72mm filter thread should be just slightly fatter than the FE2470Z (67mm). Not bad in terms of portability

I am feeling "meh" with the lens lineup Sony released yesterday...

I was thinking why Sony never develop something similar to the canon DO lenses. Special glass and lens design for telephoto yet keeping the size compact. That should be the way to go for mirrorless.
