9V-ORION,
there is a road leading up to tanah merah ferry termina, while on the road, there is a runway beside it. What is the runway heading? Do you know? I've been interested in plane-shooting but singapore isn't a good place for it. agree?

If you're heading towards tanah merah ferry terminal from changi coast road, the runway that you see is 02C/20C, this runway was previously known as 02R/20L. I strongly advised you not to take photos from there, as the airport is designated a protected area and the perimeter fence is heavily surveyed by both airport police and the SPF.

I wouldn't say singapore is a good place to spot for planes neither is it the worst. Depending on the monsoon season and current wind conditions, you can try spotting from either changi beach (aircrafts landing at 20R/20C) or changi business park (aircrafts landing at 02L/02C).

Amended time schedule of runway inspection.

01) RWY 02L/20R.
0250-0300, 0530-0555, 0800-0810, 1720-1730, 2320-2330 DAILY (INSPECTION).
IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY, RWY WILL BE RE-OPENED WITHIN 5 MIN.

02) RWY 02C/20C
0310-0320, 0605-0630, 0820-0830, 2340-2350 DAILY (INSPECTION).
IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY, RWY WILL BE RE-OPENED WITHIN 5 MIN.

Is it an offense taking pictures of plane there (i.e. on Tanah Merah road outside the fence) Would the airport police or SPF book you? Seriously, what would happen? I have been thinking of taking some photos of the planes from there ... but never had the time so far

its best to avoid that stretch of road as the patrols are rather frequent... and they'll stop you...

there's lots other places with good views and away from the security as mentioned earlier on...

Photography of any buildings gazetted as protected area (not just the airport) is against the law, and yes, it's a chargeable offense. Shots taken from there will most probably have terminal 2 in the background.

If caught, you're to comply with all instructions from the police to either delete the photos / hand over your memory card and leave the area immediately. Any failure to comply will have you arrested, this is no joking manner. For your well being, i hope you'll understand this.
