Arh, Thanks. So it is a biennial competition alternating between a series of air-to-air and air-to-ground challenges. Located some details on this year's Exercise Hot Shot (XHS) 2014 at the following links with the assistance of Google.

Not a frequent iron bird shooter, but the only time with such a nice and plain background....

Where do bro's suggest snapping photos from ? Any maps can share spots.... Cheers :)

Think will be dependent on whether it's for civil or mil? For civil, changi beach near car park 2 will be good. Just curious if anyone is willing the share the later though. With all photos and Google maps plus on site recee, it's still rather hard to find the 'sweet' spot

Has Boeing stopped fitting the tailskid to the 77W?
Sharp observation, Mark! Fly-By-Wire (FBW) Electronic Flight Control System (FFCS) with recently updated changes to the Tail Strike Protection Command (TSP CMD) pitch limitation mode now more or less sufficient enough to prevent the empennage from contacting with the runway surface under most circumstances of early or rapid over-rotation during the takeoff phase for the Boeing 777-300ER.

Save some cost from having to install and maintain the a redundant tail skid too.

Oh I see! Thank you for that clarification!

Nice to see MARK posting pictures again!

I went out to changi beach CP4/5 area yesterday in anticipation of MSN005's arrival for RWY20 yesterday, but unfortunately about at about 4pm I could feel the winds blowing inland (downwind for the aircraft). 15mins before MSN005's touchdown, I finally observed a change in runway direction.

MSN005 was circling over Indonesia before heading back up north for arrival on RWY02. Best I could do was to see her landing lights =(

A bit disappointed but oh well...
