Newb here, no idea how to PP photos. I'm using an old Canon A720 here, plus most of these shots are spontaneous, so I didn't have time to set any much settings other than max shutter speed, min ISO and zoom to the max.

I'm still trying to learn all the aperture and diffraction stuff, still trying to figure out how to best avoid getting bokeh and diffraction for taking pictures of aairplanes.

Please comment. These pictures are unprocessed.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I can't do anything about it. I'm considering getting a replacement camera (preferably one with viewfinder). And actually I have quite a lot more pictures. Just uploaded some more. Anyone knows how to get a Picasa image to show up on the thread?

And thanks for the correction on the F-16D+. My aircraft recognition isn't very good, especially at the angle which I photo them at.

A bit of a pain unfortunately. Right-click on your image in picasa and copy the link. Paste the link in between '

' tags, e.g.
"["IMG]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XIZMsjvFKok/TigOmoCwKYI/AAAAAAAAADQ/GdlqYj2N-FM/s640/IMG_3357.JPG[/IMG]

without the "quotes"

You'll have to do this individually for each photo you want to embed.

This was taken with the cheapo Canon A720 at 210mm (max zoom), 1500sec (max shutter speed). Although I take practically all my airplane photos at 210 mm, only 1 picture has the serial number visible. Is it due to the camera or lack of skill?

Well, sorry, I'm new to Picasa and then I still didn't know how to get the image URL. Now, I know.....

My workplace is near the airport, so I hung around and managed to get a few pictures in the evening. The sky was overcast and the serial number on quite a number of the shots got blurred even at 1/800 sec. Is the blurring simply a lack of skill or does the PnS have something to do with it?

Qantas A380-800 VH-OQH. Ideally the whole plane should be in the frame, but I didn't manage to zoom out in time for the plane to pass by.

SIA A380-800. 9V-SKI.

Air France B773. Also couldn't get the serial number, quite a waste.

Jetstar A330. Again, I couldn't get the serial number.

Any comments on how I could PP them?

On Mac/Safari, option-click on the image and select "Copy image address"


On Windows/IE 8, right-click and select "Properties". This will show the URL which you can then copy and paste.
