No problem at all :) We're all here to share information. I have found out lots through your posts that I would otherwise never have known. Thanks much for sharing

Thank you Beanokim for taking the effort to correct the misunderstanding in my previous posting regarding the yellow stripe on the belly of the KC-135R Stratotanker. That was an extremely informative post and I had learned something new from it. :D

The squadron could really complete the RSAF F-5 Tiger II 30th anniversary paint scheme with yellow stripes instead. ;p

To cut a boring story short, I managed to recover some files after formatting my CF card on a assumption that the photos should be saved in my HDD when shooting tethered to the PC but for some reason I couldn't find the files thereafter.

Not exactly the sharpest for the first two images as the AI Servo had difficulty getting an initial fix on the subject (which passed directly over me) with my slow kit lens. ;p

Great shots! When were these taken by the way, and they weren't all taken from the same spot right? If the first two went right over top of you then you're directly under the base turn leg and the third image of needs to be taken from abeam the downwind leg or GCA final.

Iran Air operated a series of 4 charter flights on 4 separate days in March and April, operated by 747SPs (twice), 747-100 and 747-200 Combi. Happily the 2nd pair of flights coincided with my visit to Singapore, and I hauled myself down to catch 747SP EP-IAD landing on 02L in great evening light (which was a rarity during my 3-week visit).

Personally, I love the unusual look of the 747SP, and am just glad that I managed to catch one of only 16 SPs flying today (out of 45 built)

Orion, what camera/lens/settings did you use? I don't like using AI-Servo even on faster lenses, my results are more consistent when not on AI Servo.

BTW, the 3rd shot seems oversharpened a bit. Did you crop a lot?

Brilliant shots of a rare bird.
EDIT: slightly underexposed I think. Bumping up the ev by around +0.2 to +0.3 ev should do the trick. Great shots nonetheless.

Thanks skypacker, the shot from front quarter was ok I thought but the side-on was a tad underexposed. The situation was complicated by a large patch of cloud that was in the process of covering the sun as the 747SP landed. If the plane had landed 10 seconds later there would have been no sun.

A colourful regular visitor here is TNT Airways 747-400F which comes in on Sunday afternoons, operating flight 3V001 (Callsign: Quality1) from Liege, Belgium. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate on this occasion, with grey clouds and occasional drizzle.

The airline owns 4 744Fs, with 2 in this colourful livery and another 2 in Emirates Skycargo livery, so its pretty much a lottery which livery will turn up. I've a friend who's yet to get this livery because every time he goes WSSS on Sundays, the Emirates livery turns up!

Managed to squeeze out some time to go do some plane-spotting on Sunday. Surprised to catch some aircraft which are hard to come by..

Saw a fellow spotter there (Is that you Mike Y?)

1. Armenian registered AN-12 Cub on approach to 02L.

Nice catches all!

Chillikia no its definitely not me, I'm no longer in Singapore liao. The G-IV (N888LS) belongs to Las Vegas Sands, probably bringing their CEO Adelson for the new casi..., I mean IR opening.

They also own a pair of 747SPs, so these might be more regular sights at WSSS in the future.

Gilcrest, what gear do you use to shoot the F-15SGs with?

Hi Gilcrest,

Thanks for sharing the photos on RSAF's Mudhens. I must say, you have picked a nice spot to watch them doing the circuit.:)

cheers

Thanks rocketfuel168, I try my best thats all.:bsmilie:

The gears I used were Canon 500D with a Sigma 400mm APO 5.6 for plane/bird spotting activities.

Hi Dualie !

I can only mention the area is along the axis of the runway between Kaki Buklt to Ubi on buildings.

Too much details here in may indirectly cause inconvenience to people /building management. But fret not, after you plane spot for a while you will get your inspirational instinct to find the right spot.

I was around changi this morning. I had my camera with me, so decided to detour and take some pictures.

Nice shots everyone. Been away from CS for abt 3 yrs. Nice to see an actual plane spotting thread going. When I was last here, I think aircraft shots make people yawn. :bsmilie:

Ah..., that clearly explained the high pitch whistling noise that I had often heard from the Fighting Falcons during their final approach into RWY 36 of WSAT. Your remarkable knowledge of military aviation is indeed impressive.

I just found out that actually the PW's unique whistling noise is not of the air-intake but of the CENC or otherwise known as the convergent exhaust nozzle control.

read forum posts here http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-9441.html for a better explanation and check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcFWP_TvNjM

Approximately 50 secs into the video you see the Viper power down and back up with the super sweet whistling noise to the activation of the turkey feathers. :D

Nice sounds when it tries to accelerates...heard it before during my NS training near LCK when the F-16 tried to land...i guess e newbie u are the more whines ur plane gonna make cos u definitely will keep slamming the throttle up to keep the speed...true? hmm...

anyway the pavement was dry after jus 4mins...cool stuff!!!
