OFFICIAL Nikon announcement on August 19th 2010: SLR !!

I stood in front of the stores waiting for the arrival of the AFS 85mm f1.4....:bsmilie:

no VR on 85 1.4G! great! won't be so highly priced ;p
the 24-120 f4G seems great too, 15mm more than the canon version. if priced near the 2470, it'll be a tough choice as compared to canon, as there is 15mm more ;)

16-35 f4, 24-120 f4, time for 70-200 f4 yea? :bsmilie::bsmilie:

How long are you willing to stand ?

It's just announcement, haven't come into store yet ;)

I hope they don't concentrate too much on making f/4 lenses though.

Bro, errr.. by the look of things u might have to keep standing there for another 42 days at least :sweatsm::bsmilie:

Nikkor AF-S 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Hope to see how it performs at 300mm;)

They've already previously released the f/2.8 zooms already leh!

I honestly welcome the f/4 zooms. A little cheaper, but perhaps just as useable in most instances!

85mm, will be interesting to see how does the new one images renders vs the old version.

With the nano coat and revised optics its supposed to have better contrast, but may not always be preferred for portraiture - a matter of taste/style thing.

Wait and see. :)

I think they (f4 lens) are coming. We seen the 16-35mm (a superb UWA performer), now the 24-120mm (mid range), and next would probably be a 70-200 (tele).

The D3100 is equipped with a new Nikon DX-format CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, both developed by Nikon.

Is it that Nikon designs the sensor and lets Sony produce it and thus can say that they developed it?

I always thought that since sensors in low end Nikons are produced by Sony, they are also designed by Sony.

I'm looking at the sample pictures. Not bad, but of course, you won't expect Nikon to upload bad pictures eh!? Haha! Waiting for the reviews, and, if there's the chance, to play with the lens!

Haha... a 70-200mm VR f/4? That will be nice... But I dunno. Nikon may direct you to their AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED instead!

Ok lah, actually I don't mind a cheaper f/4 UWA than 16-35mm. If priced around the 17-40L, then awesome. don't think it's possible...

I am looking at the picture of the brunette woman (f/5.6), at 100% you can literately see the hair dandruff on the right side edges of her head. MTF must be super high.

I also see some very minor CA at some shots, (not that the older version was better).

Overall it looks really great (not that the old version isn't) but must handle to know if the AFS and SWM does focus faster and better in challenging environment.

Very tempting lens.
