OFFICIAL: EOS-M - User thread

I got to try an M2 (from a friend here in Bangkok) and I must say we both agree that there is very little new (from the "M") that warrants all the trouble of importing the M2… I still say just get the "M" and be happy… Canon will market a new (FF mirror less) later next year and possibly a new DX mirrorless as well… I think the M2 is not worth the trouble at this time… I am still quit happy with my pair of M's… I use the following lenses with them on a regular basis… Nikon 16mm Fisheye… Samyang 12mm (nikon mt)… 22mm (M mt).. EF 40mm f2.8 pancake.. EF 100mm F2… EF 200 F2.8 L… and sometimes the following… Voigtlander 20mm f3.5… Voigtlander 40mm F2.. Voigtlander 90mm F3.5.. (all in Nikon mt)… Also I have used the EF 300 F4 (stabilized version) with excellent results… At the moment I consider my M kit as my primary gear… Nuff said!!! I think Canon is just now starting to realize how many of us so called "pro's use the M…(not so much for its "specs"… but for its versatility).. i.e being able to use nearly all of the EF/EFS glass made for EOS cameras…For instance… the M body coupled with an EF 200f2.8L lens is much cheaper and probably better than Any one of the Oly bodies and their new 40-150 f2.8 zooms… Not to say that I wouldn't mind eventually getting the Oly zoom..(I own Olympus/Panasonic M4/3 gear as well.) But the Oly lenses do not mount on my 5D (classic) LOL… Versatility is the Key in my book…Its all about the "Glass" not the bodies…LOL
Cheers

Thanks guys! :)

It's too bad you can't add filters to the Sigma though...

I recently bought the EFM adapter and was surprised the focusing is actually fast enough for practical use!
I just got the 55-250 and a 50mm and I am pretty pleased with it. No slower than the native EFM-22mm lens.

As far as m2 is concerned , I don't think Canon HK is officially carry the m2 currently for now , it's the m if my guess is correct , Canon only officially announced that m2 would only be release in Japan and China markets .
But this is not to say grayset for the m2 cannot be found on HK soil . When you're in HK , do go to camera store to check it out whether gray set of m2 can be found , confirm official Canon HK doesn't carry the M2 .

I am currently in Hong Kong and went to a few camera shops but they don't carry EOS M2.

Yes, I just ordered from Koji-Koji from eBay (http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=161502117894 ). Price include shipment is cheaper than retail price indicated on Canon Japan web-site.

Getting the entire set is cheaper... I got the extra original battery less than S$50.

Same here... Regretted that I didn't get the 11-22mm when I purchase from Amazon JP. The cost of buying the len separately now would be almost equivalent to buying another the 2 lens kit with M2 body. Waiting for the price to drop or a friend who may want to buy the kit but dun want the 11-22mm.

Recently was engaged to shot a seminar. when my backup cam didnt arrive, i used my eos-m to my 5dmk2.
I was presently surprised the 70-200 IS2 focuses pretty quick, much faster than the 24-70 mk1 or 16-35mk2.
almost as fast as a efm 18-55! That's nice.

That is US$1,269. Given the strong US$ now, that will translate at least $1,770+. Is EOS-M2 worths so much?

:) I got mine 'Canon EOS M2 White EF-M 11-22mm,18-55mm,22mm Triple Lens Kit Flash, Mount Adapter' (excluded the accessories) from Koji Hashimoto at a special price. It is definitely cheaper than getting a EOS M here in Singapore.
