market and price differentiation, if you don't need more features and a more powerful guide number, one can buy the lower model.

Seen like the new SB600 is bit weak as compare to the SB800.

SB600- GN-30/98 (ISO 100, m/ft), 42/138 (ISO 200,m/ft) (at 35mm)
while
SB800- GN-38/125 (ISO 100, m/ft), 53/174 (ISO 200,m/ft) (at 35mm)

they're are in line with the market trends now...they still keep their good tradition of providing good quality lenses and systems at prices everyone (almost) can afford...

those interested in the D70 can stock up on 2nd hand Nikon lenses first ;p There seem to be more of these lying around compared to those for Canon mount in the Peninsula area.

yup...should be a cheaper version if compare to SB800 which cost $600 over.I think SB600 should market around $500 or less. :think:

I won't be surprised to see a 300D replacement with improved specs by this september. Canon has been shortening its product cycles in a very aggresive manner.

However, I think that the D70 will hold court for quite a while as Nikons entry/mid camera. This will be until they can get their own LBCAST up to scratch and after they release a D2X. Perhaps then they will release a mid-range DSLR with the CAM1300, 8MP, larger viewfinder+magnification and other goodies.

September? Ha! More like replacement in July (<10 months again, just like D60->10D), stop manufacture now, EOL in June. Bye bye 300D! (not buy, buy buy :devil: )

The D200 should be getting a CAM1300, 8-10MP Sony CCD. I suspect that the LBCAST sensors will only be used on their pro bodies this time (ie generation) round as they may want to 1) fine-tune/improve on the technology 2) improve on the yield of it...
