Yep... D70 doesn't come with a vertical grip :( Sigh.

The buffer is good though 12. I'm only able to achieve 10 consecutive with a Lexar on a D100. Can't imagine how the D70 will fare with a Lexar maybe 15 shots?

The flash speed looks good also 1/500, but if you switch to manual on the D100 and set anything higher than the flash sync speed, a SB-800 will sync just as well although the shutter will be blinking.

3D colour matrix metering with RGB sensor

Another great product from Nikon

yeap, would look good and have more power with VERTICAL GRIP !
But it specs are impressive though.

Ok quick give your camera shops a call and see when stocks are arriving!

I think Nikon has also unofficially announced EOL for D100. It has been in the market for over 2 years, in this digital age. And the great D100 has competed with the competitors 3-4 generations DSLR.

Hmm...then, the D100 ..will be a classic item. ;)

Not yet, this D70 is just Nikon's answer to 300D, I'm pretty sure D100's EOL will arrive when Nikon announces it's proper replacement, and if D70 comes with such a specificiation, you can't imagine what the D200 will come with. ;p

Ahhhhhh!! dream come true...

after months and months of saving up for a 10d, (still dun have enuff cash ahhaah)

nikon comes up with this winner... Wah sounds damn zai!!!

it has the same (if not better) specs than the 10D at the price of a 300D!!!

hopefully it receives a good review, and confirm its mine...

somemore 1.5x 0.1x better than 10D.... and the 18mm lens supposed to be darn good too!!

supposed to retail $US1300 with lens.... wah slurp!!

i wonder if canon will spring any surprises during PMA

Probably the 1D MKII and the rumoured 20 DCs. Not surprised if a 300D replacement is already on the way :)

Optional accessories: Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL3, Multi Charger MH-19, Quick Charger MH-18, AC Adapter EH-5, Speedlight SB-800/600, Nikon Capture 4 Software, Semi-soft Case CF-D70, Remote Controller ML-L3, CompactFlash™ Card

*** Confirm no Vertical Grip !

Check this out:

And, it can shoot a rapid 3 frames per second for a continuous burst of 144 pictures (when using JPEG NORMAL - Large settings, and a SanDisk SDCHF256MB CompactFlash™ card) thanks to improved buffer memory handling, faster image processing, increased memory card access speed and greater system bus bandwidth.

Makes me tempted to change :(

mpenza, please, of all people you should know better!!!

OF COURSE CHANGE LAH!!! WHAT YOU WAITING FOR???

;p

So its another round of BUY BUY BUY i suppose....

huan, if it comes to an end, and one brand is domineering the market, the prices are going to be sky high. Competition is good :)

Likely like the AAs for the MB-D100 that kind of holder that'll fit into the EN-EL3 compartment on D70.

coke21: I'll start that as soon as I see somebody wanna buy ;p

With that kind of specs who doesn't want to buy??!! :D

wait for the actual thing to come first lah ;p may be also good to wait till Canon come up with something similar to minimise losses when changing system. two main grouses against the 300D is the small buffer (only for 4 shots) and the lack of a single lens with the equivalent range of "28-105mm or more" focal length.

What about focus modes? From the pictures, I cannot find an easy way to change from AF-Continuous to AF-Single Servo, nor from Single Focus Point to Dynamic... Is it all in the menu system?

czeyang: I think that part is blocked by the lens, you look closer at DPReview's image. I think I see the part of the lever. http://www.dpreview.com/articles/NikonD70/Images/frontview.jpg

Hmmm for the side view of the cam , it seems that the lever only allows you to toggle between Af and MF.

Yes. I think the AF-C/AF-S mode has to be selected from Custom function.
