I also like to know about dry cabinet for storage. I have seen in the mass order thread, which usually cost more than $100.
If I dont want to spend extra for a dry cabinet, does it makes sense for me to store in eg. air-tight container?

I've only thought about lens.. flashes... tripods etc and never thought able dry cabinets before haha. need some advice as to what kinda dry cabinets to get and what are their usefulness. seems to be that their main function is to not only fungus and mould to grow on ur lensI would def rec a dry cabinet esp if u r going to take yr camera in n out frequently but if u r tight on funds atm n want to use a dry box, here's some tips:
- try n get one thats made for storing cameras ie it shd come with a hygrometer
- put in a silica gel absorber like "Jumbo" etc which u can find in any ntuc fairprice
- try not to leave the box open ie be quick when u remove or store yr camera as moisture will get into the box
Once u get more lenses, a dry cabinet will be indispensable
i got my D3100 with 18-55mm kit lens at 835sg at AP as well the 55-200mm VR lens you could get here 2nd hand in B&S for around 250sg
my advice would be to get the Kit Lens first then decide what lens you want to buy next

I wanted to get my Nikon D3100 from AP yesterday but they quoted me $840 for the camera with kit lens 18-55mm plus 8GB memory card & bag only...
In the end, I bought my Nikon D3100 18-55 VR Kit @ $835 from SLR Revolution... The stuff given were 8GB memory card, Nikon bag, tripod, Nikon cleaning cloth & lens cleaning kit...

Hi I'm a new user too and planning on getting the AP offer for $1088 including the 55-200 lens. Is the 55-200 lens it not a good deal at $250?

Good price for the D3100 but u must had paid $100 plus for the vitacom...
it is a good deal already but you may want to hold off on the lens to check if you need it first since its also available at that price in the B&S thread for roughly the same price
Hi im new here, just got myself a d3100 kit. Now reading up on all the tips and watching youtube vids on basic dslr photography tips. A quick qn, just saw the local reality tv series The Big Shot, the contestants keep the Nikon cameras in a container type of box, nikon brand. Where in SG can u get that? Currently no space to buy a cabinet.
hi guys I've read the nikon websites but just to double check.. when I am doing spot metering.. cfm it is the lighted up AF point that will be the spot meter? or is it always the AF point in the center?

you can buy those dry boxes from funan challenger at 29sg by the way you need to load it with silica gel from time to time but check the other stores you could get it cheaper
