I'm really bad at this, here is some pics i took

ISO 100 1/40 F5.6 Focal length 55mm

ISO 100 1/50 F5.6 Focal Length 55mm, this one i was using Guide Mode that taught me to use A Mode and choose small values for Aperture to soften the background, I think the white a bit too bright (is it called bright? noob)

I'll see if I can do some night shots to test the higher ISO, but probably need to bring out my father's old tripod, no fish prawn also can lol

With PS s/ware, these pictures will be much better! IMHO, worth the investment for newbies or second camera!

I'm planning to come back to the DSLR world and prefer the D3100, which one is the better combi?

a) D3100 + kit lens + 35 1.8G, or

b) D3100 body only + Tamron 17-50 2.8 VC

I'm used to own a Canon 350D years ago and among the lenses i owned was the Tamron 17-50 non VC and the cheap 50 1.8. With Tamron on my 350D body, the 50 1.8 collect dust in the dry box. In other words, if i buy the 3100 + T17-50 VC, i dont think i need the 35 1.8

My other alternative is the A33 + Tamron 17-50 non VC

:dunno::dunno:

i would go for a modified second option: tamron 17-50 non VC + 35mm 1.8g.

I've already pampered by the Canon's IS and Sigma OS before this ... so a VC is a must.

Anyway, why are you suggesting the non VC? Any particular reason?

The D3100 is the first Nikon digital SLR to support the latest generation of Secure Digital cards, known as SDXC. And the Nikon D3100 adds both an input for an optional GPS accessory, and a high-definition HDMI video output -- two ports that were absent on the D3000, but have been included on all other recent Nikon DSLRs.

Enjoying my D3100. With the 35 f/1.8 its ultralight and can be held with one hand. The lens combo is great for street photography for its subject isolation and keeping close to subject. A quick switch puts it in silent shutter mode.

Once again these photos show that it's the photographer who makes the difference, so what if is a an entry level DSLR. I guess I have decided to have the D3100 to be my first DSLR.

Any pal could tell me what's the lowest price I could get now ? I asked one shop, $850 with a 8Gb memory and nothing else, not even a cheap cleaning kit.

These are shot with the D3100 and 18-55 kit lens and SB-400. No PP.

challenger at funan level 2...selling at 835. but if you are a member, you can get pts and deduct $2 from the final purchase...so $833...comes with 1 8G card

I gotten equote from AP after GST around $834.00.
