I think canon sure sabotage third party lens focus speed.... that's y I buy canon only.

My Sigma 50mm 1.4 hunts really fast and accurate with the 6D.

I got mine with sigma 35mm f1.4 last week and did a cosplay shoot over the weekend. I'm sad to report that the outer AF hunts in low light, it's not a question of speed anymore.

are u sure ??? can u tell us the detail ??

its make me feel to look 5d3 again X_X

btw guys, any of you tried changing the focusing screen yet? Feels like getting the Eg-S, but the specs for it said it will be pretty dim for f4 lens

Anyone can comment on the brightness between the normal and eg-s screens?

You will notice that the VF looks a bit darker if your lens is F4 or slower. I find that the brightness for F4 lens is still ok, especially outdoors. But anything slower than F4 the VF gets a bit too dark. If I get the 6D I will definitely change the focusing screen to Eg-S. This is a feature I missed most from the 5D2 when I upgraded to the 5D3.

As i have a 35L and 24-105, im afraid when i changed to Eg-S, the 24-105L will be too dark

Btw, Eg-S still can see all the af points right? Saw the pic on the net, seems like a blank piece only

And Eg-D only difference from the default screen is just addition of the grid lines?

Sry that it came across as a con. I was just responding to the low light question.

I read this article, where it states the sensitivity of AF points other than the center one is +0.5EV.

Given that and my own experience, don't expect much out of the outer AF points in low light.

I just did a short test comparing 550D and 6D with 70-200L f2.8 II at 7:10p.m. Single selecting the top-right AF point, the 6D was faster, but in practice I doubt it makes a difference.

The only issue I had was with the AF layout. Working close up with my subjects at low DOF, recomposing is usually a last resort. I'd have preferred if there are AF pts at the thirds.

Was it low light situation?
Was it outer focus point?
What other camera body had u tried with this lens before to compare it with the 6D?

I asked because fast and accurate is subjective to individual.

All the af points are still there..eg-d is only the added lines.im using that atm..well mine is the ef d since its for the 60d...makes composing easier.

How much are the screens? and I have never used before.... but if I am hopping onto 6D... I better learn...

Maybe dependent on lens... and different lens could be different??? But yours is a f1.4... fast lens leh!!!

Ok... what does it does??? I thought it was suppose to help focusing easier??

the review i posted earlier says

'We can use Custom Functions to set the AF Point Selection Button to AF Point direct selection. That way you can simply use the Multi-Controller to manually select your desired AF Point. However, if you do this, the SET Button will not select the center AF Point, as you may be used to from other cameras. Instead it will activate whichever function you set the SET Button for. But if you press the AF Point Selection Button first and then use the Multi-Controller, you can then use the SET Button to select the center AF Point'

Is the bold part true?
If I map the SET button to 'nil', will pressing the SET button to choose center AF Point immediately?

Hello.

Any 6D users with the Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 VC? Would like to seek opinions on this combination.

Many thanks!

lol, Canon's spec sheet says the same since day 1: Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : EOS 6D

Haven't tried the combo but the AF is pretty noisy.
