Official Canon EOS 60D User Thread Part II

Local or grey set will not affect the cause of focus issue. They are from the same factory, juz that they took a different ship to our shore.

No focus issue for me for both my grey sigma lens.

May i know where u bought at?

ok but how do you check ?

Even though it's an online shop, u can still pick it up from their local office/shop/store. Test it till u like it before u pay. 2% off published price by cash pmt. :)

I got this problem too a few weeks ago. I sent to CSC and they repair for me FREE within 15 mins. They just replaced a hot-shoe mount.

Does 60D require battery grip? It is necessary since the battery itself can last for about 1200sh.

One battery can even last more than 1500 shots or equal 2days the most with upto 8hours continues shooting. With heavy with battery grip. Anyone know the weight with battery grip and body with lens attach.

Depending on lens, you can google for the weight of every single item and do a simple math.

Hi to all 60Ders....

I have been using the 60D for coming to a year and there is a little thing which I want to find out....moving from the 400D to 60D, I realised that the shutter sound is quite loud and is it common to all? There were several situations when I am shooting quiet places, my shutter just goes piak...piak...piak....and attracted some attention...quite paiseh. Pictures turn out good and I got used to the sound but just curious if it is a common characteristic.

Bro did u squeeze the shuttle trigger or just snap it just like that? By slowing squeezing the trigger u not only avoid any unnecessary blurness to ur picture but also avoid the loud shutter clicking sound.. juz like a gun u squeeze before firing ur shots would b more accurate

Yes it is. I found the 60D's shuttle sound loud and of a higher pitch compared to my previous 550D as well. Even my current 5D mii sounds softer. Think it is just characteristic of this camera. My 2 cents.

Ahhh...ok...glad to know that it is a common characteristic....
I find the loud sound a bit annoying initially....took me a while to adapt to it.

Any users can update if the side cross points are as sharp as the centre cross points AF at 2.8 or faster lens? Am currently using a 550d with a 17-55 and the side AF focus points are extremely soft if cropped or blown up.

Appreciate some advise. thanks!

The softness is caused by the lens, esp when u shoot wide opened. AF points have nothing to do with it.

At first, when I swtiched from my 450D to 60D, i thought the shutter sound for 60D was cool compared to 450D, lower pitch and sounded more pro. However, agree witl SumoBear, 60D's clapping sound is kind of loud in quiet places and it draws more attention. Will take alvinfrancis' advice and remember shooting a camera is like shooting a gun (my time, M16), including the squeezing. Happy squeezing!
