Post some great shots with your new toy :)

What do you guys use to trigger wireless flash? My canon st-e2 seems cannot trigger my 420ex.

Recently acquired the 5DMKIII too. My fav pairing is the 50mm F/1.2L and 24-70mm F/2.8L II. The age old 50mm F/1.2L is gold!!

Yup, the auto-correction in camera makes old lens shine again... :)

Hi all,

I read so much about the rave reviews of 5DM3, but its pricey.
I would like to know from those who have used both 5DM2 & 5DM3, in low light shooting such as indoors on a 16-35/2.8LII or on a prime 50/1.4 or 85mm/1.8, how much better in approx percentage (in your estimate opinion) is the M3 over the M2 with regards to AF and image capture quality ?

I was thinking if it doesn't vary that much, perhaps I can just get the M2.

Thanks all !

If low light shooting is your main usage, you might be better off getting a 6D. Low light shots are superb!

@Zoomz, thanks for reply. but if strictly between M2 & M3, what you advise ?

Anyone thinks its wise if I purchase my Canon DSLR online from DDElectronics.sg, ValueBasket.sg or TechnoGadgets.sg ? They seem to be much cheaper than shop outlets. Or would you advise for bodies, better get from shops, and for lenses, can consider getting from online ?

They are cheaper cos they are grey sets... Meaning no local warranty. If you are comfortable with no warranty, go ahead and buy..

- DDE does not have a physical shop after they have closed down operations in Singapore... Not sure about their current status. To my last knowledge, when they closed operations, I heard some folks still have yet to got their items they ordered before they close...

- Not sure about Value Basket

- Technogadgets, So far bought some items from there. for the 5d3, it took nearly a month to arrive...

Since you are keen to buy why take the risk of buying from these sites even though they are 'cheaper' Pay a bit more
for a guaranteed peace of mind from authorised shops locally rather than waiting and worrying if your order will arrive in one piece.

Yes, 5D3 is pricey but it is the new kid on the block. If you compare the IQ between the 5D2 and 5D3, there will not be much of a difference.

Where the differences exist between the 5D2 and the 5D3 are the inherent technological advances in the industry leading AF and the low light capabilities of the 5D3. If these are not so important, then I would suggest getting the much less expensive 5D2. IQ will be about the same.

If however, a class leading AF system, advanced low light capabilities and other technological advances will help you to get a lock on those more difficult shots, then of course the 5D3 must at least be a serious consideration despite the added expense.

I won't buy my camera bodies and AF lenses from any online stores as it will be a hassle of sending for servicing and repair later on. The price difference is actually not very much if you go to a few regular camera stores to compare prices and buy during promotion period. It will be an expensive lesson if this big investment go wrong.

Have a few encounters when I need to bring a camera body to do a one-to-one exchange at the authorised shop, and they replaced without question. Maybe some online stores may offer this, but nothing beats sorting this face-to-face at your regular store.

Won't mind buying online for cheaper items that can just write off if something go wrong - filter, SD card, half cases, etc.

This is just my thoughts. You may have your own choices and risk appetite!

@SKY, ZOOMZ, ZEISSER and RAYDIO,
Cool. Thanks for your valuable feedback.

If urs is new local set, u can attend the free product course by Canon specially for the 5D mark3

Was there such a Canon course for intro to 5DMIII? I thought they only provide the basic DSLR intro course?

If you can use a xxxD camera, you can pretty much use a 5D MkIII with no issues.

May I ask how many years of warranty given for the 5DMARKIII? Just 1yr?

Local set 1 year. 15 months with online warranty registration.
