I couldn't believe it and i called.
It's indeed $4K. :what::what::what:
If they didn't mention cash before they quoted you, you can pay via CC. That's my experience so far...

I am not pro. Just a tourist kind of photographer. but I do indeed struggle with F4 inside the wine cellar. Perhaps F2.8 will do a better job. I am ok with the quality of 17-40 as mainly put on FB and display on TV for family viewing. Not actually into pixel. Or there are something else I missed out.
What I actually struggle more is to shoot wide 17 horizontally to minimize lens barrel distortion. but many times, the street is narrow or restriction inside the building, I cannot move back and hence have to shoot up. Can use software to correct it? or I have to get 17 TSE?
Most of us here are hobbyist too.. 1 stop of light can mean something or mean nothing, really depends on your indoor lighting condition. Most zoom lens definitely have barrel distortions but it can be corrected with DPP or LR. If you are referring to wide angle lens distortions, you can't really help it. TSE may be an option, you can rent one and play with it to see if it helps. But do note that TSE aren't "fast primes" though. The 17mm is a f/4 and the other one, IIRC is a 24mm f/3.5.
The day before the trip, I was actually still at Funan deciding between to get 16-35II only or 17-40 + 24-105 (Finance minister restricted the budget). At the end, I think F4 is good enough for me. From this trip, F4 is indeed good enough for 90% of the indoor shooting with 5D ISO 6400. A few shot, I used 600Ex with gel, the result was not too bad. However, I also rarely use the 24-105...
I tried DPP but it does not help much for those shot that I took with > 10 deg up horizontally.

Playing with primes is a sinful addiction. Once you start using them, you just can't tolerate zoom lenses.
But 16-35 II is one zoom i'll keep in my kit. Hell of a workhorse for tight spaces and amazing perspective.

Well, it was unfortunate that the street price dropped to 3,650-3,999 for some customers, from the latest news. So I had to adjust accordingly.. and there was a slight pain peel due to accident scratch by my leather jacket's zips at the delete button.. so yeah
