Can consider the 1740. Cheaper. Again if you take portraiture then the 1635 may be better as its at 2.8. I shoot landscapes so normally at f8 or 11 hence I bought the 1740 second hand. Definitely below 1k for second hand so can consider too.

had lot of old SD card lying around and tried an old 32Gb Sandisk standard SDHC blue in color one in the 5DMK3. Dont bother spending too much money on what high speed ones. These blue ones are good enough for video and the continuous high speed shooting.

Tried the same card via an adaptor on the 5D2, it pauses video recording. Don't think it's the speed of the card but rather the adaptor.

CP just dropped price. SGD 3,999.00

W or WO GST?

Prices have been coming down in Canada and the States too. A week ago, the standard price for the 5D3 in Canada was C$3700. Amazon.ca is now selling for C$3330. Another company in Toronto has it listed for $C3228.

The price drop has been a welcome change and brings the 5D3 a little closer to the price of the Nikon D800.

A good card reference for 5D3 user.

In real 5D3 world, the fastest Sandisk SDHC card ( Extreme Pro 95MB/s) got a 19.3MB/S of RAW writing speed only.

That's why you should not put a SD card in 5D3 with CF card.

The fastest the 5D3 is going to read an SD card is the class 10 30m/bits model..
Getting the Extreme Pro at 95m/b isn't going to be any faster at all..
Canon somehow decided NOT to include a fast SD slot in the 5d3 :(
I'm using the Sandisk Extreme HD card..not expensive and works at it's fastest the camera can support.
Bursting at full RAW doesn't work well on the SD card..it DOES hang for a while…
However, when i do need to burst, i usually do it in mJPG anyways so that one doesn't stop at all..
If really need to burst in raw, i'll only use the CF card.
For normal shooting…any card works.

$3999 W GST. Got mine yesterday. :D

WOW, price really dropped fast! I bought at $4.3k..not drop $300?
Oh well…that's the price to pay to be early adopter…no complains though…

Just came back from France with 5Dm3, 17-40, 24-105, 600EX-RT and tripod.

1. 5Dm3. did the job well especially at low light inside church, opera house and castle. Something that 7D did not do well.
2. 17-40. Used 90% of the time.
3. 600EX-RT with Rogue FlashBender. used in 20% of the shots. either indoor.
4. 24-105. very little used. did not carry it when the day was planned for walking. Mainly used at Monet garden to take close up of the flowers.
5. Tripod. not for night shot as night start at 10pm. mainly to include me and my wife in the picture :). so it is a siru 0.8kg. not actually stable. but at 1/200, it acts as another person holding the camera.

overall very happy with 5Dm3 and 17-40 and Rogue FlashBender...and also the billingham bag.

Great information! Thank you for sharing.

Bro.. Where you got it? Using cash I suppose?

I couldn't believe it and i called.

It's indeed $4K. :what::what::what:

If they didn't mention cash before they quoted you, you can pay via CC. That's my experience so far...

Has anyone tried their 5D 3 with the Sigma 12-24 Type II? Is it a good match? Please post some photos! Thanks.

I read somewhere that the rrp in USA dropped by US$150. So our local prices should have come down too.

Yes that's true. However, not all stores have caught up yet in Canada or the US... many are still selling at the old price.... I guess they're trying to get rid of their old stock.

Price drop is probably in response to Nikon USA's claim that stock levels are now normal for the D800 and D800E, without any back orders.

If that's the case, I hope that Nikon's stocks improve even more!

Wait till you tried 16-35L MKII, then you will know what you have been missing in 17-40 :p
