Menu > Spanner icon (blue) > Erase images > Select Erase all from card.

This will only erase from the CF card... all those images on SD card not touch at all.

After some more experiment, seems like can only erase whichever card that is currently selected for Playback under the "Record Func+card/folder sel" option.

I presume you selected CF card as the primary card to use? You can select SD card as primary card to use in which case it deletes from the primary card. I think there is also one for deleting all images if I am not wrong.

Nope...it only deletes the card you playback from...it's irritating i know..if you save raw+jpg on the same card it deletes both.but if you save on separate cards it only deletes the one you playback....

Which AF point were you using? The 61 pt AF or centre point focus and recompose?

Lack of light means lack of contrast. In that casemost cameras will have a problem focusing not just the Mk 3

I was using center point only ...i know any camera would struggle but i thought of the mk3 as a super camera in low light..haha..i wish it had an internal af assist beam....actually i think the d4 worked in very low light..but that's d4...different

you expecting too much from it la bro..try 1dx haha
those are considered extreme conditions, contrast is hard to detect

faster release bg-e11 \o/

@ spinwork - A workaround would have been a flashlight or using the light from your mobile phone.

Flash. Get focus. Turn off.

Although I agree there should be an IR assist.

Last night, I used the top left corner cross sensor to AF under 1/80 sec, f/1.4, ISO 25,600. Locked onto subject accurately and with little fuss.

I do not know if there's been any serious direct comparison between AF capabilities of D4 vs 1DX vs 5D3. I have however read of people who struggle with D800 AF under extreme low light conditions while the 5D3 lock on accurately and quickly (see here for example).

We'll see if Rob Galbraith dares to post anything on this subject after all the flak he received from his previous postings. :bsmilie:

As for the light leak issue, I wonder how many people shoot with their lens or body cap on? I know I don't. :bsmilie: Even when I carry out star trails shooting, I'll rather use the Q-menu on the main LCD than the tiny top LCD. I guess that's just me.

What's the darkest you used your mk3 to shoot in without a flash?
i'm not talking about ISO performance but AF performance..
Maybe i pushed the mk3 a little too much today..I was using it at a Chalet BBQ and i just could not get it to focus (one shot mode) using a 50mm f1.4…even at f1.4 and ISO25800, the camera would just keep hunting non stop..just couldn't focus and since i didn't bring a flash, i end up not being able to take any shots in focus..(because i went to MF but it was so dark i couldn't see)…maybe i was expecting too much from the camera?

at that setting, even if u can get the camera to focus, the pic will come out terrible. terribly noisy and poorly exposed. whats the point? use flash when u need to. good photos means good exposure.

It was a chalet..people playing games...good photos were a low priority..but i ended up not having any photos in the end..which is even worse than noisy photos..I'd rather have noisy photos anyway vs no photos at all...
I had a flash but it was too blinding to the people playing the games so i stopped using it..mine was a cheap 320ex flash so there was no IR assist, it kept flashing the main flash to AF and then to take photo so the flash was going non stop..very irritating..people were complaining..

BTW, i wonder if it's possible to use the flash JUST for AF but when the actual photo taking don't flash? Is there a setting for that?

Ooo so what's yr serial number? Is it the one with the light leaked ones?

Does anyone know which places now sell those cameras which has the light leak issue fixed?

I got XXXXX1 5DMK3. Light leak is not an issue for me. I could have got a 5DII but I will be missing the new wonderful features. I could have wait too for light leak to be fixed but all the wonderful moment will be gone by now.

Was in a similar situation recently. Couldn't get the AF to work very well under low light, so I just turn on live view and manual focus. Most shots were only at 12800 ISO and the image quality is quite decent.

Why didn't i think of doing that..live view, zoom and manual focus….
But then again, because they were playing games, there was alot of movement…i don't think i can manual focus that fast either :)
I actually ended up using the 320ex LED light and took movie instead…i actually ended up being the "light source" because they also couldn't see what they were playing…i had to shine the light for them…:( Very expensive torch light i became..

Hi how do i set the 61 AF points to work? i read the manual try to set it but i still have my center point focus in the view finder. Thanks

you must have not use a camera before ???

Hello bros, I noticed that mk3 has both a cf and sd card.

Price lists from SLS showed that for the same speed, CF is generally more than twice as expensive as SD.

Just wondering any advantages CF has over SD for the same speed ands capacity? Why are they so much more expensive?

SD is way slower than CF even if on paper they're rated at the same speed, that should pretty much explain why CF is more expensive.
