When does it hit stores over there? will you be making a trip down to BH in NYC?

We are expecting some trickles at the end of March. I will likely buy from Henry's in Toronto to ensure warranty coverage.

eh? Canon US warranty isn't covered in Canada?

Bro, you did not change the function for the orientation in the camera lah.

Actually i think it doesnt work like the 7d. Only zone selection only.

LOL, yes it is... I'm just too lazy to drive 10 hours to New York! I also refuse to take a shipment as the carriers are so rough with the packages. It's just not worth it (IMO).

Who say.:)

As part of the extra AF system customisation that’s available on the EOS 5D Mark III, you can select different AF configurations based on the orientation of the camera. You can select up to three different AF point selection methods corresponding to whether you hold the camera in a landscape orientation, portrait with the grip up, or portrait with the grip down orientation. Simply rotating the camera will choose whichever AF point or AF point selection method you have set for that orientation.

This is very useful for many situations. For example, at a wedding you may choose to use one AF point when shooting in a landscape format but a different AF point for focusing on a face when shooting in a portrait mode

I thought that means the af is stored in the memory rather than changing whenever u rotate the cam? The af pts are much smaller than the 7d as well so rotation might not make sense?

....can off the functions.

CR says 5D Mk3 to be available for sale in Canada and US on March 22nd.

Canon will be regulating the price of the 5D Mk3 beginning in May so that retailers will be unable to sell the camera below a designated price. Also, retailers will not be allowed to bundle free gifts with the purchase... hmmm  Regardless, treat this as rumour.

Um, I read somewhere that someone was saying the existing batt-grip of 5D2 can also be used on 5D3 (still compatible). Did anybody else read it also or know anything about it? I'm still trying to search online...

I would like for them to be compatible also, but I've already heard that they are not, least of which is because of the different body designs.

I guess from a sales perspective, canon would not make it compatible, they would want to maximize their profits.

I think that it would be easy to predict that there will be much written about the Canon 5D Mark III over the next few years in many threads! ;)

Anyone would know if the mkiii would be able fit the old Leica R lens? Wonder if there will be any mirror issue...
