that time when the 5DMK3 rumour was floating around, i already kinda thinking liao.

didn't wanna go for the MK2 because i already had the taste of the 7D AF system and 100% VF. this 2 aspects are something which i will not let go of.

so i just shoot as per normal with my 10-22.

MK3 came out liao, initially i was not very tempted but see all the sample photos, omg the ISO performance is nap shot man!

plus the updated AF system, i think this is it liao la, time to eat bread and save up! :bsmilie:

5D mk3 first day rental = $168 . ::bsmilie: if for 7 days.. i think at least more than $600 rental fee. some more excluding lens rental.

Hope that rental will drop lor.. the $168 should be chop carrot head one lah.. expensive cos new model, some people may want to try out before buying.. so that's income opportunity for them

i'm not inclined into renting such expensive equipments, especially for overseas trip when i cannot guarantee the safety of the equipments.

hmm, then buy MK3 and rent lens lo.. FF UWA damn sian one leh.. buy 3rd party, cannot use filter. buy original, only got 2 option, 17-40L and 16-35L.. sigh..

So sorry to hijack this thread, but may I ask all those who bought/tested 5dmk3 if the AF is as good as advertised? it would be a great plus if the 61-point AF is really as accurate and constant as they say it is.

Anyone care to share?

Yes, very accurate and consistent, even with fast primes. Pretty fast for one shot af, never try tracking.

I tried doing some macro shots for still life, single point af is very fast and accurate. Zone type (multi-point) is very slow because the camera cannot decide which of the 5 or 9 points to choose, but that is to be expected. Although designed for tracking, zone-type af works well for shooting portraits, just put the 9 points on the face and bam, it will hit focus.

Sorry for some noobs questions. I was trying with tianya GND filters and when its on 24mm, the holder can be seem on the frame, is there anyway to over come this? Thanks.

What memory cards are you guys using? I look at the price list on hwz...sandisk extreme pro SD 16gb 90mb/s is almost same price as sandisk ultra cf 16gb 30mb/s. Comparable SD is half the price of CF card. How come cf so expensive har?

I have been using CF on dslr, SD on compact and m4/3. Like no difference leh, except bending a pin on my cheap cf reader...

CF has more write cycles? CF more durable? CF more reliable? Or both sama sama?

Tianya has a slim holder, basically just hold less filter only. If still cannot, you can try larger filter.

Yes it is true. Extreme Pro 90mb/s 16GB SD is the same as normal SanDisk CF 16GB 30mb/s

I think flash memory has always been an expensive memory storage.. bro go see what's the cos for Extreme Pro 64GB 90mb/s CF card.. close to 1K!!!

actually i find that if you are not doing any low angle shots which call for the need for absolute DOF, focusing somewhere 1/3 into the scene will render everything in focus.

that is with 24mm and below, aperture of f8.0 la.

but if you need the DOF up till the lens, then just hyperfocus lor.
