Initially they wanted to send my copy for repair but i insisted on replacement as it was "new but faulty" set... Gotta give DD credit for a fuss-free replacement within 4days!

I will still get grey rather than those from BNS...

IMO this 70-200 lens is a must-get lens as it is really very very sharp! Get at least a non-IS version (around $900) and use with tripod or use shorter FL (while train yr hand to be more stable, if u can find a way...hehe) I m so amazed by it that it gets into action with me 80% of time nowaday...

no problem :)
if you need to reduce the vibration from the mirror slap, go to custom functions and activate mirror lock up as well..

Mirror lock up is only for when I use the delay shutter or something I should always hv activated ??

No. Dont use it all the time, cos it will cause a delay between your shutter button press and taking a picture. Only use this when you are taking long exposure on a tripod and want to prevent the vibration of the mirror from affecting your picture.

Noted. What if I was not using a tripod but still a relatively long exposure, say 1 sec, should I activate it ?
Thanks

Maybe you can call up reputable shops like MS COLOR, John 3:16, SLRR to find out. Good to compare quotes.

Hi,

I am actually a D80 (18 - 135) user (changing due to the weight of the D80 plus I want a camera that can do video as well) but I am intending to sell it and get a 550D with the following setup:

Canon 550D with 18 - 135mm kit lens (as all around day lens for travelling)
and EF50mm f/1.4 USM or EFS 50mm F1.8 lens (for night and portrait shots)
and maybe eventually to get EF-S10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM or Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM

My question is:

Is it really worth the difference in cost to get the 50mm f/1.4 USM lens?
As for the wide angle zoom, is the sigma lens very much more expensive? And is it worth it to get the canon lens or the sigma one?

I use my camera only for travelling mostly. I dont like to carry a tripod around so small f-number will be better for me to get night shots or low light shots.
Can any brothers and sisters advice? Thanks!
