Official Canon 550D User Thread Part IV

Thanks for your valuable advise! wat do u mean by careful of shallow depth of field ?

One fren recommend me buy Tamron 17-55 mm f1.4 i think... for night shots..gd ?

shallow depth of field means that objects slightly nearer (or further) from your focus point will be blur. you can Google and find out more.

i think you mean Tamron 17-50/2.8 (a Tammy 17-55/1.4 would be nice but it doesn't exist). anyways, it's a nice option for night shots. Another option is the Sigma 30/1.4. For night shots where you need both near and far objects to be in focus, you'll likely need to stop down the aperture to increase the depth of field.

17-55/1.4 doesnt exist. ..and if someone dares to make it it should be VERY HUGE and weighs a TON

Something like this?

Hi there was thinking of rerplacing my kit 18-55 lens with the EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
pros
closer focusing distance
slightly further telephoto
cons
more expensive
more then twice the weight
any bros got feedback on this lens was thinking of dropping by vivo for test shoot at the showroom

i rather you add a 85/f1.8 to your kit lens than get another variable aperture lens again.

but if it works for you, by all means get it.

I would rather you get a 55-250 to match with your 18-55. ;)

i know exactly what you mean. chances are, after you upgrade to 15-85 and using it for a while, you will find the aperture too slow for low-light situation. then you will come back and ask for recommendation again and perhaps i will suggest you get the canon 17-55/tamron 17-50/sigma 17-50 + 85/f1.8 or 100/f2 or 135/f2L. in addition, a flash to go with your lenses as well. :)

On my way for a funky lens setup, the Audi TTS

T - Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 UWA

T - Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 Walkabout

S - Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 Portrait, Product Shooting

Audi TTS, Nice focal lengths, Nice, all f/2.8 !!!

To get a much better walk about lens or do you guys recommend me keeping this lens and just get a telephoto lens to go with this lens like the 55- 250?
