nikon announced a new cam with full autofocus during movie mode. I hope canon will also implement this on the 600D. Hoping also for the articulating LCD (same as 60D)

I just got my 550D kit II

Just to share, it is "good to have" for full autofocus during movie mode.

However I have bad experience using auto focus with PnS. For example when u r taking a video on fireworks, it will continuously try to focus. The result will be a video that is blur, sharp, blur, sharp....

Moreover, when it autofocus, for 550D, there will be "focusing" sound n it might be recorded

Hey guys, am troubling whether I should get the 550D from MegaTex sale or wait for the IT fair.
If I'm nt wrong the price for kit 2 is $1779. But the freebies available is Tripod, 2 8GB memory card, EOS bag, Cleaning Kit and the user guide. But I've seen the previous IT fair, which is on June, it's the same price but the freebies available were 8gb memory card, tripod, (long workbook??), and a HD media player. for the online warranty promotion, there's a crumpler bag too.. which I'm no very sure how it works.

Anyone can advise me whether I should get from MEgatex or IT fair?

I bought mine at $1620 for kit II 4 -5 months ago ..

Right now around $1584 - $1590 for kit II... If I'm not wrong at TK foto technic.

Wait for IT Show, and buy from TK foto, cos there's a free crumpler 5 mdh bag..

Hi guys. Thinking of getting one 550d for myself but got some questions to ask.

For lens the range basically just means how much i can zoom in and how wide i can take the picture?
And i notice the kit 1 lens mannual focus ring is a little too small for comfort is that true?

you wont' be shooting manual focus like as a main thing right??

so why worry if the ring is small or big... in fact big even worse, accidently adjust the focus while u shooting how? assuming you have FTM (full time manual)

it's nice to have a nice focus ring.. that's why most L lenses have the focus ring in front of zoom ring to prevent u from touching it by accident.

i think your logic abit weird (no offense) just because it is kit lens doesnt mean that MF is not important lol. it is like saying u buy a cheap kia so no need wipers or headlights

haha, i'm not saying don't need.. i'm saying don't need to worry whether its small ring behind the zoom ring or big ring infront of the zoom ring...

MF is NOT not important, its just many don't use it, so why even bother themselves that the kit lens focus ring is small?

i'm not putting down the kit lens, in fact i'm always telling newbies to just stick with kit lens and don't rush to buy, bcos you can use it to the best of ur abilities can le..

haha.. and its more like saying buy a kia then don't worry whether the wiper is weather sensing automatic or have to switch the wiper to auto mode before can auto...

haha. your analogy seems more accurate. Anw, i have to agree with u that the kit lens is quite fantastic for its price. sometimes, manual focus can be more reliable for eg. in low light

Canon lens can only use on canon body and nikon lens can only use on nikon body unless u have adapters but u will lose AF if u use adapters. Anw, all canon lenses can be used on 550D with the exception of film lenses.
