hi there.

thanks for all those info. so i believe dof is generally enhance by the use of aperture, and nothing else uh?

anyway another question. would like to know what exactly are the 50mm f1.8 lens meant for? their main purpose and strengths?:D

i google, and instead i was brought over to reviews about the lens built, and all. it did not answer my question of what exactly is it purpose

I believe mostly it is being used for portraits... can also be used to take still objects... should be very nice due to its ability to have a shallower DOF...;)

Agree with Bro Tobie, but to those who know what to look out for will say the bokeh isn't that round/nice due to it's 5 non rounded blades.

Got pic to show good and poor bokeh. But for most general viewers, they will say pretty nice liao.

It's a cheap lens and a handful of 2nd hand flying around the sales thread. Can get and try for fun :angel:

Ha ha I think you better read some more! :) People can reply here and maybe it will help you understand, but if you see a proper tutorial with diagrams it will explain it for you much better. There is a load of info available on the internet about DOF. I recommend you just take some time and a bit of effort to do some self study.

ordered the battery grip, thanks for the reviews guy ;)

Roger that. will read more on dof

so it will take 1 week to arrive?

For me, it is about 5 working days. But it depend on which seller you buy from too :)

If you are lucky, it will be faster, I had order Hoya HD filter before and the fastest it took was 3 working days for me to receive.

ohno D: i need it by the afternoon... i bought frm etefore. how come they will send it at night? i thot singpost deliver only once in the afternoon?

earlier on we discussed about the limits of min aperture for 550D due to a diffraction phenomenon. after reading thru reviews, i found out that reducing ur aperture actually reduces sharpness not juz due to the body. the effect of this depends on ur camera model and ur lens but typically above f8 it begins a sharp decline so juz stay below that :)

thanks for clarifying ! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hi Bros;
anyone know abt this speedlite YongNuo brand or can share your view on this..
Thx...

Needed brighter flash than the pop-up on my 550D. Didn't want to pay Canon Speedlite price, found this cheaper than Nissin brand. I got it off ebay for around USD110 shipped.

Haven't used it much, not enough time. Can do E-TTL. It can be used as slave with adjustable output levels, can manually zoom flash. Can also strobe.

So far, very happy with it because 1) price, 2) it works, 3) it has IR beam to assist focusing so don't have situation of pop-up strobing like crazy to achieve focus in low-light situation.
