Might as well get a "night vision" camera (which is much more cheaper than Df) don't you find it a bit funny trying to shoot in the dark without light? Either will have a lot of noise or basically one colour (black) in ur photo, better go sleep early rather waste time as even a D4 can't make it too.

Dim area ofcos you can use single point to shoot, will be much easy to get focus.

Sry if I'm wrong, but I believe no one will get a good image without the support of flashlight in the dark.

Then I think bro issic can ignore my suggestion since most bros here have no issue focusing in dim lighting.

Bro, thanks and appreciate the suggestion. I also din know my dark / dim was interpreted as dark dark with no light at all. Hahaha.

I feel that the AF of the Df is inferior to the D700. Without using the AF assist, I had no problems focusing on my boy in his room at night using D700. (AF area was his eye). However the Df struggles to focus if the light source is slightly behind, and at times could not lock. I used centre focus point for both cameras.

This could be the solution for now.

I read that article. Unless I missed out something impt, it doesn't really gave an insight on the AF speed in dim condition. But rather just mention the diff in specs.

Good suggestion, but it looks quite bulky on top of camera haha.
Till date, I have no issue to focus, without the presence of AF assist lamp.

As I remember that Nikon D4 and Canon 1DX do not have AF assist lamp as well.

It's the same with the D800E unless you are willing to trust the camera to decide on the AF points to use which in most cases would result in images where the focal point is usually not where you actually want it to precisely be, eg the eyes.

I'm using the 105 f2 dc and sometimes the AF just cannot lock on. Hence, I just switched to center AF.

I find that MF can also do the trick by relying on the focus "green" dot and so far so good.

Yes. They look very nice when put together. Actually, this is my first AFD lens and I bought it becoz of DF.

AFS lens really not suitable on Df... too modern.

Switch? It's more like an upgrade anyway, the 5D2 is quite old already.

Hehe.. I didn't upgrade to 5D3 cos I was using manual lenses and 5D2 can change the focusing screen. Anyway glad that the lenses are improving by leaps and bound. AF is not to bad.
