Not so sure Liao. I am using 17-55 and 18-135.

I only felt that 18-135 is much noiser than my 17-55. :)

Hi all, i realised my 18-55 is ii makes quite a bit of sound when auto focusing as compared to other lenses that I have.
Is this normal? Or better to send in to CSC?

There is an audible mechanical sound when the 18-55 IS is auto focusing. If that is what you are hearing, it's normal. The sound is definitely pronounced if you compare to USM lenses. As long as your lens is focusing correctly, nothing to worry about.

how loud is it really? i've used rental 18-55s (last year) and there was always this smooth mechanical whirr when it auto focuses. unless it goes like:" whirr...tektektektek... tektektek... snap" and still doesn't go into focus, it's fine. USM tho it just goes:" zzzzz...."

Hi guys

New to dslr, but i looking to get 600D for a kick start

Is the kit lens good enough or should i just get the body and a external len?

Looking to take picture of close up of family and minor scenery. I understand there is a lens that help to blur out the background, to make human outstanding but i'm not sure what the lens is ?

Thanks for the help in advance !

you're new, so just go with the 18-55 kit. if you have a small bit of cash to spare then go get a 50mm f1.8 II as well, since the f1.8 will help blur out the background abit more than your kit lens f3.5. people always put off kit lens, but i feel that they're great to help you find out what's missing from your shots. is it the zoom? is the the uwa? is it the macro? or just a flash? or the iq or what? it helps alot to know what you need before you commit yourself to another set =D

The sound that is louder than the AF is the IS in service. :P

Original batt around 80-85 in most shops, 3rd party around 25-30 in shops, cheaper one in e-bay. I bought 3rd party one at 25 in TK.

Batt grip-
1. Can put 2 batt inside.
2. Better grip when shooting potrait orientation.
3. Make ur cam more balanced when you put a heavy lens.
4. Better grip if you have big hands.
5. Make it look like a pro body and invite thieves/robbers. :bsmilie:

Thanks alot for the info bro!! Really appreciate it... So wat u've mentioned in point 1,this 2 batteries only works to 'put' inside a holder, thats all is it? Or when installing this 2 batteries in the holder it will be used up n activate the both batt?

Hello~! Welcome to the club =D Just new and already looking to upgrade your body? i sense BBB virus!

A battery grip, as mentioned, lets you take portraits with better grip (means the sideways shots btw) and allows you to use 2 batteries to power your cam(this reduces the number of times when you have to pop out your batts and shut off the camera for it) also looks more pro(cause it's bigger sized, so you'll feel less inclined to buy a 7D or 60D just cause it looks better) and some also come with a AA battery tray (lets you run your cam on alkaline for backup)

I currently operate on a single battery, and i havent had it run out on me yet! i keep it fully charged and can go one whole day witout it running out, all the time on AF and IS on. Always good to have a spare though.

What's your set-up btw?

just wondering using the 600D what are the bags everyone is using?

Hi Valkarian, how does the EF 70-200 2.8 feel on the 600D? With grip still feel front heavy?

Although I don't know about the 18-55, some Canon lens make more noise than others. It is due to the IS. Additionally, some IS mechanisms make more noise than others. In fact, the Canon 70-200 f/4 IS, is noted for making quite a racquet when the IS is turned on. This is perfectly normal. However, if you feel that the noise is abnormal, then take it to the Canon Service Centre for a quick inspection.

17-55 IS loudness is similar as 70-200 F4 IS

Hi Valkarian, how does the EF 70-200 2.8 feel on the 600D? With grip still feel front heavy?

i've never tried it with a grip, but i know i dont want to make my set up any heavier =D i can handle it with one hand fine, the 600D's current grip allows me to hold it very firmly. then in shooting positions you best not take more than 1 minute to consider your shot or your lens will start moving arounds cause your hand is tired =D

I have a problem on my kit 2 lense (18-135) and the lense seems "loose". Lots of times it will extend itself without me turning it especially when the lense is pointing downwards when I carry my camera on my shoulder.

Is there anyway I can tighten it?
Hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say.

lens creep usually occurs when due to excessive usage of lens. you got it 2nd hand?

You can sent it in to CSC for them to do some tuning, but from my experience Lens creep will come back after awhile. The only way is to use the rubberband method. It is pretty good, I am using it on my Siggy 17-70mm and it works wonders. Hope I have come across this solution before and bought my friends 24-105mm which he is selling for less than 1k bcos of lens creep.

Actually it's a 1st hand lense. Got it from TK. Use it like few months and I have this problem already :(
It's just irritated for a lense that always extend by itself because of gravity?

i already feel front heavy when i am not using the grip with my 17-55... i think with the grip for 70-200 F2.8, it will be front heavy
