Point of going digital is not to waste more money on film & developing... If use digital I'll join...

Hehe... I am trying to promote film too here... Want to tell everyone that digital is not everything! Especially in B&W. Nothing beats the fun in dark room developing, printing, burning and dodging!

Hi CH,

Just a thought:

Why not colleborate this project with PVS? Since this is photo-related and you were the prez for the past 2 years? I'm sure you can come up with something where the 2 parties will gain from each other. PVS side, this could be another special project or a minor ad-hoc where you can be the one in charge. This way, I believe the project of yours would have get more support from the admin etc, and at the same time promote B&W photography in NTU... Furthermore, we might be using the darkroom of PVS...

Point of this project is to promote film usage as Chean Hiang has mentioned. I don't agree with your statement; why is using film a wastage of money?
Film has different qualities from digital, especially if it is going to be in black and white. You will never get the kind of depth or tonal range in B&W on digital as compared to film. You wun be wasting money, if you make every shot count.
Capturing good shots everytime all the time is a training in itself.

Anyway;

Qn: Why you want to promote film? Are you gaining something from film companies?
Ans: No, as I said, I'm not gaining profits. I want to promote film (b&w in this case) because of the following reasons:
i) I am beginning to feel that I am losing my skills n knowledge after using too much digital.
ii) I see that my results from film are deteoriating.
iii) I no longer take time to do 1 good shot, instead shoot many and choose 1 good one (digital). I used to enjoy the time spent in doing 1 good shot.
iv) I just got myself into medium format photography.

Q: What film are you guys using? I was at Ruby yesterday looking for ilford 400 B&W, but they said no stock till this coming week. Anyway i got 2x 3200 iso B&W films. Going to shoot 'em in thailand this week
