Yes, the battery is exactly the same model as the DSC-F707/717.
I think that's why most people buy it for, since the "Starter Kit" was actually meant for a SONY videocam. And some more it's a Hi8 videocam not MiniDV.
I was hoping they would have the HVL-F1000 on sale too but no luck I guess.
