Don't think so. The D610 sans the stupid AF module can fight with the 5D3, but yet they throw in not one, but two camera bodies in the form of D750 and D810 between the D610 and the flagship model, D4s.

They're clearly not interested in matching Canon.

Well, if the 7D2 sells like hotcakes like I think it will, Nikon would be very stupid not to revisit this.

7d2 way of too bulky for aps-c sensor, even heavier than 5d3.

From the comments I have read, they poo-poo the 7D2 because it has no WiFi, does not use a super-expensive, not yet available CF card standard, and fixed LCD... I was like "HUH?"

Sensor is similar to the one in 70d I heard. But the key is the performance speed wise.
