Actually I feel that the price of 5D will still hover at around 2k region, if it goes any lower, I think it will people would rather keep it. >.< I believe the model that will suffer the most price drop will be the 1Ds MKII. Last I see, its still going for 5.7k. I think its unreasonable to sell it for anymore than 3K now.

the current rate at which competition is pushing manufactuers to squeeze in so many feature in between each model cycle really is scary. Last time 20D -> 30D -> 40D the features they upgrade like want-to-give-dun-want-to-give like tat, so stingy, only so slight improvement. Now everything also got to throw in, video-no-use also just throw in la, got what features just throw in la. indeed making the 1d3 look a little.... "outdated"? but there are some things like weather sealing and power AF that cannot be found in lower end that may command a premium still. if u really shoot sports or wildlife for a living, die die expensive also have to buy.

I hope canon will do another 40D>50D type upgrade to the 5D2 in a year's time.:angel:

Haha!

Why video only, canon should put in GPS as well so you can reverse mount next to your car dashboard if they are ready that desparate to outdo the competition!

You are such a Genius! Why you are not head hunted by Canon Research Division yet is puzzling!

Yep.. someone seems to be trying to sell some used, high shutter counts sets for 5.3 to 5.5K...

if 5dm2 really going for USD2699, then a used 1ds m2 better go lower than it. :bsmilie:

dun worry, i'm sure they have thought of that...
it will appear in 5D mk 3.

If the new 5D cost about $3.7K, why should the 5D drop to $1.5K or below $2K for that matter? Now that 50D is out at $1.8K maybe, i dun think i can get a 40D for $800 bucks. And once people get bored of the "video" function of 5D2, and when review shows that the improved noise reduction and circuitry has just compensated for the double of MP to 21, and the noise becomes only slightly improved, and everything else pretty much similar, the 5D price may just hover at a strong price point.
For me i will pay a higher price for a 5D than a 50D still bcos it is fullframe and all its advantages with similar noise reponse (the 5D is still performing so well now - amazing), so i am still willing to pay a good price for the 5D despite being an "old" camera. Drop to $1.5K? nah.

I believe this is refering to used, and the figure is not too far fetch as you think. Today 40D new (grey) can be as low as 1100, used ? There are some people who may be ignorent still picking some used 40D for 1100, but realistically, 1000, or 900 is likely to be the trend, down to 800 in 1-2 months, you bet.

5D, demand and supply will kick in. If someone can get a 50D at 1.8K new, with all the bell and wistle... Let's wait and see in 2 months time where the 5D used market is like.
