Being an avid street photographer myself, I found it extremely difficult to accept the styles of commercial bridal photography for my own pre-wedding photoshoots. Most styles that I see in bridal boutiques are done very dramatically, heavily photoshopped, montages (picture plastered all over in single page), too much emphasis on the background, UWA and distorted perspective, fake vignetting, fake bubbles, borders, sketching and text which a primary school student will do for art class. What I'm looking for are honest, beautifully lit portraits, protraying the couple, their faces and expressions, and maybe their costume. I also like fashion magazine shots where flash is used to isolate the model against a natural or outdoor background. I notice this kind of wedding portraits are done more prevalently in western countries. But I would like to have twist of my own, by wearing traditional chinese costumes and looking cool, like what we see in fashion magazines.
Are there any of these honest and cool looking pre-wedding portrait photography? I'm not keen to have all my wedding photo shot in the studio (like graduation family portraits), but would like to do them outdoors, in the streets, park, alleys etc. Since the shot must emphasize on the couple rather than the background, it can be done anywhere in Singapore.
If you know what I mean and happen to have some contacts, kindly share them with me. Or if you are a photographer and have the expertise to get what I want, please contact me (hp: 97268093).
If nobody can deliver what I want, I rather throw the money to get a medium format camera, put it on tripod and taking the photo myself (which my fiance will be strongly against)
Regards,
Kang En
