noob to D700

lenses have longer product life cycle than the camera body, it will not being replace so soon, so it is wiser to get right lenses before going for FX body.

and D700 is consider a pro grade camera body, should consider using pro grade lenses to unleash it full potential.

actually I think the D700 upgrade is more significant than buying an expensive 24-70mm lens and using on a DX body.

The D700 sensor is really good compared to the D300.

Example,

1) D90 with FX lens like 24-70mm
2) D700 with cheaper primes like 24mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 105mm f2.8.

I will take 2 ANYTIME. The difference is really a lot.

I have used both the D90 and D700.

I am one user using D700 with non-pro lens! Coz after spending on it no money to buy pro lens Haha! I have mostly primes though. Once I got the D700 I never want to go back to DX as my main camera.

totally agreed...is a world of diff esp shooting in low lite , considering 50f1.8 as my onli len left during purchase of d700 few mths back

My question is, if i use a DX lens on the FX cam, will the ISO performance be compromised since lesser area of the sensor is being used?

Please don't reply to a old thread when the suggestion no longer needed.

TS has already decided and got a D300s instead. that was almost one year ago.

and it would be better to put some thoughts with your posting, something like hearsay hearsay does not helping others,

understand that more and more people surfing CS using smart phone, I also do that some time, but please do consider there are many other users also reading the forum in a conventional way, try not to post with SMS lingo in a forum, this is basic netiquette.
