Noob Streets

Very nice bro, love your penang and publication shots, drink less and shoot more!! awaiting your new series man haha! Yeah you need to do some real shooting!

Hello~ I have yet finish enjoying through your pages, but I wanna say KUDOs!
I don't own a camera, but once a while, I followed my friend, and uses his camera.
It's a 'WOW' that you experienced so much doing these street-shoots.
People stare at me or shout at me, I will freak out.
So..... My next try is, if they discover me, i should snap it faster and not stop what I was doing. (: (Get ready to run away if really anything should happens.)
Inspiring! I must return back always to check out on your new shots!

I was just shooting at Little India this late afternoon and there was this old lady who pushed a trolley with some boxes on top of it.. I took a photo of her and she was really furious, even she chased after me and grabbed my hand.

Strangely, it wasn't really a scary experience for me, i am still laughing about it now.. She was furious but at the same time looked a little funny when she confronted me.. I just walked away with a really big smile!

So far, today was the best street experience for me, with a lot of people agreed to be photographed without the usual camera-shy attitude..

(Gary, sorry for OT, i just can't helped sharing the experience that i just had, anyway i have replied your PM regarding the RFSG..)

Yea no worries! Getting chased etc. are all part of the learning process!

Hahaha! Erm, cannot la, need my alcohol, its fuel for the body!
When getting RF? hahaha! I jumped on the medium format bandwagon lately, waiting for the camera to come but I've got a Rolleiflex SL66SE medium format SLR on T-loan at the moment. Very heavy but can even tilt shift!! woohoo!

Sultan Mosque, A Short Ongoing Series

The Sultan Mosque also known as Masjid Sultan is located at Kampong Glam just off the town area is one of the most prominent Mosque in Singapore. It is beautifully painted in gold on the outside & nicely decorated on the inside, especially the area where the main prayer hall is.

The Sultan Mosque is quite a tourist attraction as well, tourist from all different nationalities do visit the mosque.

I've decided to do a short ongoing series on the Sultan Mosque & the people in it. A short photo documentary to showcase this beautiful mosque & hopefully, to share with everyone the muslim faith through pictures so that we can better understand each other in our multi racial/religious society in Singapore.

These few pictures would be a start of a short documentary series that I intend to do down the next few months over a few short shooting sessions over the weekend.

Please do visit their webpage to get more info on the Sultan Mosque:
www.sultanmosque.org.sg

The ongoing & growing series is here on my Flickr. Will have more as time goes by.

Yea! Thanks bro, I've been shooting the mosque for quite awhile but still need to go back more to get even more better pictures!
Current ones so - so only

The 2nd photo is fantastic! Saw it on IPA too. Congrats!

My virgin go at medium format:

Rolleiflex SL66SE
Carl Zeiss Plannar 80mm F2.8
Ilford HP5+
HC110B, 5mins

Looking forward to more from your Rollei! How do you feel about shooting in square format?

Hmm... I think square format is quite an interesting perspective, I've been shooting 135mm all my life & its the first time I'm doing 120mm, 6x6, a lot more to learn really.

Only thing I can say is carrying this fella around on my neck was seriously pretty heavy compared to my RF cameras

I've yet to try the tilt shift on this fella!

I think it would be really interesting to shoot street while using tilt/shift :D

Maybe we can go out shooting MF one day

Yea sure!

MF is really no joke on the weight & space it takes up!.

Best part was that it was my first time processing 120mm black & white, I nearly feed in the paper instead of the film into the development reel

very nice bro! I think the square format is very interesting, forces us to change our perspective and perhaps, way of composing.. No regrets one, the tonality of mf is set to kill...

btw the SL66SE looks like really expensive and solid precision equipment, on loan from master sim?

Yea it is! The file size after scanning the film is wa........... huge..............
Still not fully used to the weight. I cant even take the weight of a DSLR & this MF is really something.....

Yea really solid stuff! The Planar lens is sweet!
Yep, on loan from Master Sim before my very own MF comes in!
