[Noob question] why pentex still not as famous?

thanks for all your opinions! sorry about the brand name spell wrong la, i change now lol

Last year attended a Flash Photography course for DSLR. Unfortunately, the instructor familiar with settings of C&N but not for P. But that's not a problem since the settings for Flash Photography are similar to each other. With of course some trial & error.:)

I share his sentiments. I've been helping out with some strobist classes and with majority being C&N users using high-end speedlights, i got lost navigating the menus. Then again, my experience with flash are those manual slide/button types. I don't even know how to configure the AF360/540.:bsmilie:

How come so many mentioned 'instructors'? I did not realise that so many actually attend photography courses.

Hence the relative maturity of the Pentaxian crowd. I was browsing at the Canikon sub-forums; I feel like an anger swelling up within me whenever an easily-searchable question keeps propping up, showing how these two manufacturers' marketing departments continues to make our lives more miserable.

(Yeah, I need to get that one out, unless I destroy a noob or two. I know myself better not to say this out, but I need to get this out of my system.)

What kinda instructor is that? Is he supposed to teach you the basic of photography or is he there to teach you what camera to buy :dunno:

If I come across this kinda instructor I sure turn my head to leave and ask for refund.

Some schools would say if you have not bought your dslr yet, wait until your class begins. The instructor will teach you what to look for when you want to buy the dslr.
Call up some of the schools (advertised in CS) and say have not bought your dslr and you may get such answers.
So you will know which brands such instructors normally recommend. Some schools can loan you a particular brand and also at some special rates too.
Of course our Pentax gurus here can also do the same, become instructors in the schools, demonstrate Pentax cameras in addition to/instead of other brands... so it can become more famous gradually by word of mouth from students. At the same time make extra pocket money.

Some must look at fine print : fees paid not refundable as they are delivering what they say in their syllabus.

Got my k-x for over 3 months already, 1st time DSLR user.

So far i am very satisfied with my camera despite most of my friends are using canon and even though my gf said that the canon 1000D is easier to use than my k-x (probably because her hand shake alot and she used her friend camera in batam, bright day light while most of the time she use my k-x when we are dining in indoor. tried to explain it is probably due to higher shutter that why not blur when she use canon... grrrrrr)

I have read thru the other forums quite agressively since i am quite eager to learn and also on considering whether to switch cam in the future since i have not invested in the pentax lens yet.

My conclusion is that i will stay with Pentax as there is not much incentive to switch brand unless i am going full frame but being a hobbist, I do not think i have the budget to go that route and among the crop sensor market, pentax serve my needs well interms of costing and availability of lens. The world of Pentax somehow do not seem so daunting and even the most expensive lens of various usage seems to be achievable with some decent budgeting and saving. The pool of pentax senior whom are so friendly also help to reinforce that this is a right choice for me... at least for my current usage =)

I understand what you mean. It's a new generation of (D)SLR owners we are facing.
