Curious to know why this kit is so good.

Cos it's from the maker of the camera itself. Non other maker (or maybe i wasn't aware of) have such a kit like Pentax "toothbrush" for it's own sensor.
Next closest kit for all dSLR will be the famous artic butterfly kit which cost much more.
Effectiveness is of cos in question but based on what the fellow kit users, i derived that it is good enough for minor dust cleaning at the comfort of home with a reasonable price.

Just my 2 cents worth of thoughts...

The kit works well for me. The dusts you see that I'd posted earlier are mostly gone. Like all Pentax product it's value for money. You can use it for quite a lot of times compared with other cleaning kit. It's also cheaper at $61.80:)

Din know that Pentax also sell these kind of stuff until now.

Late but better than never...
Thank longko for making the trip down and get a kit for me...
Really nice knowing you in person... :)

Does the cleaning kit works the same as LensPen SensorKlear? Was thinking of getting that.

Not really. SensorKlear is simply a funny shaped lenspen with thicker sponge, from what I've read.

The cleaning kit uses some special plastic which literally uses its adhesive properties to remove dust. At least it feels adhesive when you clean the CCD with it. In a funny way, that is.

If you have used lenspen before, then the SensorKlear is just a glorified lenspen.. I've experimented with using a relatively less used normal lenspen to remove spots, it kinda works, but someone somewhere else pointed out that since you are just moving the lenspen around.. And you can't really clean it per se.. You should replace it after a few uses, if not you might be dragging abrasive dust which is left on the lenspen tip and.. Well, we all know what happens when you do that!

So when you clean using the pentax cleaning kit, it is only a rubber tip, thats all?
