I think you gotta work on your PS skills.. the so called artifical bokeh in Pic 3 is really painful to watch. I think it would look better without it.

Everyone has their own opinion and seriously I do not understand why some people have to go on and on like a broken down cassette player about the preferance of equipment.

Point 1: If the D300 is inferior to the D70S, you think the people out there will go and buy?
Using a D300 as a spare n sub to a D70S is a little expensive dun ya think?

Point 2: If technology dun improve and remain on the same spot? Might as well let's all be caveman. And what about the people in Nikon doing Research and development ? If there is no improvement than they will jolly well be out of a job.

I AM the photographer and seriously some people just conform to the public perception of what is a good picture. Media shapes what people think are beautiful but not everyone gets mindlessly brainwashed. All this resulting in a lack of personal style, just seneseless mimicking.
The composition was INTENTIONAL. The lighting and the DI to bring out a THEME, carefully planned to bring out a certain feel and not just give a "oh,look at me,I am so pretty!" look.

The shots are experimental thus we push the limits and break out of the box. Being different is the key to being successful. Do what people do not DARE to do and you stand out. Do what is safe and expected is boring. Most imprtantly, easily forgotten. I AM DEFINTELY NOT gonna be boring!

To illustrate the point: Do you even know the names of e pple who tried to mimick n do imitations of the Mona Lisa?

Sorry but i am not your conventional DI artist and i love it in an artistic way.

In fact i think it is one of my better DI work because it gives a teary effect to the mood of the picture. Without the tear drops effect it would look normal and the point i am DIing it in the first place is to make it exceptional. And the artifical bokeh is a joke, it is clearly art in the making. It looks like a painting with the brush strokes. Definitely not your normal cup of tea but in an artistic sense it is an art form of its own. Although i may not be as good as tung tong i am in an experimental stage of developing my artworks in my own artistic expression.

The beauty of photography lies very much in the fact it gives everyone his or her own freedom of expression. As much as we feel the urge to comment, critic, prove or show a point... As a professional - we ought to show respect to the original artists..

Be tactful - and the FORUMS will be a MUCH better place.

there are plenty of good DI artists/photogs outside. I just like to recommend 2 photog/artist I really like. Hope them able to give you some inspirations.

D300 and CS3 is powerful tools, make full use of it.

Nikon Focus had previously featured a photographer using a D70s + Kit lens with stunning award winning photos (SHARP + VIBRANT COLOURS) in one of the issues in 2007. I had and in fact still is producing quality images using the D70s + Kit lens. So there is no excuse to blame this combo for the images u created. Especially pic 1,2 3 & 4 it is not the quality that needs blaming but the composition and the handling of the metering.

Why i get the D300 was because i needed an extra camera to supplement my D70s. In addition I needed a larger file size for my work too. If the D70s is a 12mp camera i dun think i need to upgrade too becoz its simply good enough.

If this combo really is so lousy like u said it is...i wonder how did the photographers of the D70s Era in 2005 survived till today to get a D300.

Even if u insist that the quality of the photographs is compromised by the camera and lens...i only haf one last thing to say that all the photographs are very lousy and belongs to the trash...that is because the styling, composition, metering and editing cannot make it.

If talking about size, you can still shoot D70 in raw files OR get a 10mp D40x since you said that there's no difference between D300 and D70. Why waste more money buying something which have insignificant changes?

Users of D70 + D100 have being longing for Nikon's upgrade for years, that is why D200 sells like hotcakes and now shortage of stocks for D300.

I think that is very insulting esp using the word lousy, trash. TS have spend time and effort shooting these series, better than some who just happily join some "model" shoot. You may have your own opinion but do try to said it in a more tactical way. Btw I still believe the mood is more important than so-called "correct" styling, composition, metering etc etc.

We started out with a Nikon D70s and Adobe photoshop 7.0
We did the best we could! Although i think we are in serious need of upgrades haha...

Yup i did some artifical bokeh for picture 3 before we got our 50mm 1.4 lenses. haha!

After reading all the posts, I think you guys are missing out the point... fact is they're blaming the camera for the (lousy? Not sure whether they’re lousy in her point of view, cos if they weren’t lousy, she wouldn’t be blaming the camera… well anyway..) photos...

Well, I guess instead of hearing beautiful lies, the TS should maybe try to take in some (albeit negative) opinions and see how her work can be improved on, given the mixed views about the photos…

The artists and artwork are really wonderful. Gives the picture the feel of a painting. Shall strive to achieve results like that in the near future.Thanks for the feedback and contribution.

Lousy was a word that was never mentioned in the entire message posted. Personal interpretation is what created the whole mess in the first place.
It is a case who I heard who said what, add abit of pepper and salt and it is passed off as I heard who said what x10.

The underlying message was she feels like an upgrade in the camera would make the works better.

Appreciate your concern and we thank you for sharing with us your opinions.
