No HSM/SSM/USM for Minolta lenses?

if in a quiet place(eg. exams center), is the focusing sound of KM systems very very loud as compared to canon's USM? from forums i had seen, some even said they had to go manual focus to stop being the center of attraction. is it that bad?

As somebody once said somewhere. If the AF sound bothers you, switch to a Canon or Nikon. :bsmilie: Having played with the Canon and Nikon Kit lens, they are much more silent than my Minolta 35-70mm f/4

I learn photography via Canon dSLR. Now I am a Minolta film user. And its really true, that the Canon kit lens is much more silent. Even the Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 makes lesser noise than my Minolta 35-70mm f/4 macro.

But it does not bother me at all. ;p

Actually, the sound effects are even better when the flash is attached and you are shooting in low light.
Zeeee.... click, clack... Zeee... click, clack....Zeee
Reminds me of those days I did my shooting with a bolt-action rifle.:devil:

You worry too much... if you are the photographer on the day.. You want the attention!!!
