[nitewalk] visions

Those are far out buildings over on the right of frame. What are they used for? I would be grateful for you to tell me?

Reflections @ Keppel Bay, they're condominiums~

This is something I wanted to do for so long. Always wanted to get the reflection of the CBD and MBS skyline. I don't quite like how they are two parts in the frame but there is something to be shown when placed together in one frame so here goes.

The line in the water beneath MBS isn't a brushing mistake, not much processing anyway. The line is there in the original shot also and I also couldn't figure out why is it there.

X-M1 and XF 10-24, 4 shots RAW panorama, ISO200, 10mm, f8, 30sec

Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong.

Starting off with the nice sunset on Saturday. It was a very last minute trip and did not do any research on where to go where to shoot so it was just a roaming around trip. This is somewhere near where I stayed and I thought hey the road leading out from this carpark was pretty interesting and I went up to see. So here goes.

Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

Same spot where I shot #115 from.

Handheld this and shot with a 2 seconds exposure at ISO400 and luckily it wasn't too dark yet. There is even the nice sunset glow which is on the other side that creeps into this frame. I felt a panorama would better do justice but it would be a tad ambitious so just made do with this.

RAW handheld, ISO400, 10mm, f8, 2sec

EDIT: No GND filter was used and no heavy processing to balance the exposure, the Fuji X-M1 dynamic range is pretty decent!

Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

The earlier light was better, but I feel that it goes better with the buildings lit up and I don't like to combine shots done at two different timing, if I can. So here goes, a very iconic scene.

Q1. Can I know what settings you used for this shot ?

Q2. I tried to take this shot but cannot find the correct Block number. Can I know you shoot this from which Block number ?

Thanks

St. Stephen's Basilica

Budapest, Hungary.

"Ego sum via veritas et vita" as written on the wall means "I am the way, the truth, and the life".

Used Haida 10 stops ND filter to blur out the high human traffic at the Christmas market. It was St. Nicholas' Day so we could not enter to visit and view the beautiful and grand interior.

Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong.

It was a very colourful sunset and the light was changing every little moments. Times like this, you do feel tempted to sit back, relax and just admire the light as it changes. As it changes, the light impacts the scene in different ways.

The Peak, Hong Kong.

A cityscape photographer who visits Hong Kong but does not photograph this may leaving feeling a lack of accomplishment. Cliche as it is, this composition remains one of the must-do for me and being on an impromptu trip, it makes it entirely convenient. What's more, it is not in the direction of sunset so the rainy weather seems entirely appropriate otherwise I would have felt I had wasted a gorgeous sunset.

I have chosen to upload this at 11:26:26pm in FaceBook because there are 2014 more seconds to go before we are in the year 2015.

This is a collection of some of the photos which I had made in 2014. 2014 ended with several aviation tragedies and incidents. Every year as we look back, we recall incidents involving humanity and we shall remember those who had lost their loved ones. This is no way in which we would love to end the year. Treasure your loved ones and the chance to live because to live, is amazing.

While my photography has been mostly to do with cold hard buildings and scenes, but places are where we often remember and link up with memories of our loved ones. Therefore, it would appear appropriate for us to capture scenes which may capture memories we have with our loved ones.

Happy New Year to one and all!
