I'm using this post to do a comparison between HDR and manual blending.
Version 1
Version 2
See if you can identify which version is a digitally blended shot and which is a manually blended shot. Of course, this is not a straightforward comparison. Variables include the workflow in Color Efex and the thought flow during processing. Different day and times, there are different priorities in processing the shot. Sometimes, I may wish to reveal the shadow details sometimes I may want to keep something in the shadow. Therefore, this is a just-for-fun post. Ultimately, there are no perfect processing techniques. I'm always seeking to refine it and learn something new to better the processing.
I made a mistake in the colour processing of ver 2. Notice the two tones of blue near the white cloud. I'm ok with very slight halo-ing. Might burn some detail back into the halo-ing part but the two tones of blue is rather ugly imo.

Shelter
Single exposure without filters. I cant remember the last time i posted something done in a 1:1 square crop and yet ironically the square frame formed the basis of my learning of composition.
Upper Seletar Reservoir. I'm sure many are familiar with this tree. A very popular tree for pre-wedding shoots as well. A beautiful place and a good place to shoot and seek some inner peace. Pretty good experience waiting for your long exposure (which I've not uploaded) and read a book by the reservoir or watch people and dog run pass you.
