Nissin di866 vs canon speed lite 580exii

I believe in Auto mode, Nissin 866 is up to 100mm while 580exII is up to 200mm.
bot it at SLR revo for S$390. works with my 500D even when it's off camera. Able to trigger it with my pop-up flash. I had to power down 1/3 stop as it's a bit too bright.

The 580EXII stops at 105mm. Btw, didn't know the 500D can trigger flashes

The Di866 can be trigger optically, so any camera would be able to trigger the Di866 in Optical Slave mode. :)

I'm planning to get the Di866 however I am so much intrigued with the strong flash and its compatibility with the 7d. do you guys know any place where i can test it and try remote trigerring? I am this close of buying it but i'm wondering why shanekua mentioned that it is 90% of the 580EXII. are there any 7d users here who bought the di866? any issues? a few questions though

if di866 work high speed sync at TTL mode, will it be a hassle running it at a non-TTL mode, what difference will it be if not run in TTL mode?
what impt feature in 580 isn't in di866?
do we always need high sync in dayshooting?
what are the major weakneses of the di866?

i also have a noob question

does the nissin 866 has ETTL?? or ETTL II?

Nope... no Pentax mount as I know of. Only Canon and Nikon.

I checked the specs. I suppose 580EX II is weather proof while di866 isn't.?

Hi all,

Does this Nissin come with international warraty as Canon does? Will fly to HK next week, after currency should be abt SGD 355 (HKD 1980).

Thanks in advance.

Take note that the 580 II is only weatherproof when matched with a weatherproof body in the first place, like a 1D series and maybe XXD series, although I still wouldnt risk a non XD series in the rain.

U forgotten 7D.

Anyway, Di866 AF assist light only for centre AF, whereas 580EXII is for as many as 47+ AF point.
