aaah .. I've thought about it, and I think I get it. So if a photographer only owns a 50mm lens, that is his ideal lens line-up. Nothing else would be better than 'ideal' .. it's all he needs. It is ideal after all.
So when I have my back up against the wall trying to fit the group into the frame, I shouldn't curse my luck and wish I had a wide-angle lens ?? Because .. I have a 50mm lens and that is ideal.
And when I see those distant specs scurrying about on the sports field, I shouldn't wish I had a telephoto zoom to bring in the action a little closer, since my 50mm lens is ideal.
maaaan .. I wish I had had this insight years ago. You could've saved me a ton of money instead of splurging on the lenses I own and use. Silly me ... for I already had the ideal lens line up 20+ yrs ago when I bought my first SLR with a standard lens.
