Hi, have you tried with 3rd party lens, sharp and the focus indicator easy to view?
Hi Ansel, i rarely make shots at that high iso, but will certainly shoot some for your assessment soon![]()

I gotta admit, Nikon 1 series is a seriously good camera. Derided by most, but even with the FT1 adapter and 3rd party lens, it still maintains it's superb AF speed. The only drawback with that adapter is that Nikon removes the C-AF function and also restricts the shutter speed to a maximum of 1.3 seconds exposure.
But with its small form factor and AF speed, I don't understand why more birders aren't snapping it up! Most bird enthusiasts are older gentlemen, whose backs would appreciate the weight loss of a Nikon 1 versus a FF DSLR!
"restricts the shutter speed to a maximum of 1.3 seconds exposure" ? i am able to do between 30s and 1/4000s with ft-1 and AF-S lenses, Bulb mode is also available.
Oh wow! Nikon has fixed this! When I had the J1 last year, this was still a limitation...even up to January of this year when I sold it...nice!
