If I understand it correctly..
TTL (Thru The Lens?) will actually monitor to flash as it firing and adjust if require during the actual shot (increase or decrease power)
D-TTL (Digital) fires a pre-flash to judge the scene, then fires the actual flash. You will not notice the preflash as it fires it in such rapid succesion to the actual flash. D-TTL cannot adjust the flash once it fires however
