Me... I will buy it because of AFS and lower light photography but I have no money.

are you using d40,40x,60?

if u aren't, don't waste your money on this lens. it's only for the users of those camera who refuse to upgrade :bsmilie:

if anything, this is the time to upgrade to at least a d80, then use the excellent 50mm AF primes

i think a reasonable price is 600 SGD imho. considering the 50mm 1.4AF is abt 400 or so (don't own one so not too sure). personally, i prefer non-G lenses. I don't mind AFS but nikon's AF system is good enuff that i have almost never overrode the AF's decision when i use AFS.

Agree the price is too high...Me poor man with family can only own a D70. I might change my mind and get a Nokton 58mm/f1.4 SL-II @ 580SGD. I like AIS prime more.

I think S$500 or less will be a better price tag. More than that, is a no...no... for many. Just my POV.

i think nikon sg price on website just the retail price

actual price should be lower, how much lower :dunno:

thank GOD, i don't need it as i have oready the cult lens;
the non vr version of the afs 55-200mm f4-5.6 dx = one lens to rule them all

but for those who want this new 50mm baby, remember to buy them locally
even if pay hefty premium = must support our businesswomen

afs 50mm f1.4 is a big improvement ;at least in the afs area
a.k.a. AutoFocusSlow :bsmilie:

Relax guys. It just landed on our shores not too long ago. Wait for the prices to stabilise. It will come down. I'm sure it wont stay at $949. That sounds more like 85 f1.4D

This kind of price must as well get AF-S 105 VR f2.8. The bokeh is good and at least you can use it for both macro and portrait.

Far too pricy.

Well if you compare a 50mm f1.4 and 105mm f2.8 then you don't know what you're talking about.

bokeh wise both are great but you buy a 50mm f1.4 for the aperture and 2.8 is not anywhere close to low light use unless you have the D3 or D700.
That is steep. ECS Australia selling for 585AUD.

ECS doesn't have stock.

u "like AIS prime more", u own D70, really, this 50mm is not at all what u need

imho, u'd benefit more from upgrading body to d90 than to have this lens in ur bag ;)

the 50mm AF quite well on d70. used the f1.4 + d70s combi before and found it much much better than *i* was :embrass:

but as some pple said, the price shd come down. then this lens might be worth buying only for pple who don't already have a 50mm prime, or only have the 1.8 :)

personally, i have the 1.8. if i wanna upgrade, i'd get the AF F1.4 50mm. i need aperture ring to use it on my F70 in A or M mode. with G lens, I can only use P or S :dunno:

So ... so disappointed. Marginal cost far exceeds marginal benefits.

Basically I just need to take low light photography as I already has my good old AFS 28-70 2.8 and my son don't like flash. He blink his eye when there is flash. D70 suck when using ISO greater than 800.

Then why not get the cheap cheap 50 f1.8, or the cheaper version of the 1.4? :dunno:

:thumbsd:for nikon.Base on Nikon's track record, I think the price of this lens wont drop too much in the near future.:)

I prefer Nokton 58mm/f1.4 SL-II more. It's a AIS prime len. What you think ?

I hate to ask. But why everything was priced so high as compare to the rest of the world ? And they always has festive discount which we do not have. I love Nikon and I want one. Please let me strike TOTO tomorrow....1.5 Mil:sweat:

Yes but a list price of 949.00SGD? Even after an agressive 30% off, it is still 664.30SGD

received a call fm a trusted salesman fm one of a cam shop, S$755 cash...

Just went to CP, salesman said stocks coming today priced around 700+.

Btw bght a b+w 67mm uv-haze filter at $49, worth it?

May be someone could arrange for MO from overseas suppliers.
