Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

They were asking for S$3300 firmed. No discount as they said that price controlled by Nikon so they could not sell any lower than that.
For body or for kit?

Since I'm still wide awake and so are my models, here's a couple of pics at ISO 12,800.

Impressive even at 12800 ISO
more plez

BTW. you said that your D800 won't stand a chance at this ISO
You won't go up till 1600. is this true?

Actually before owning Df, I was D800 user. The difference of high ISO performance between those two are significant.

It is not that the D800E won't be good above ISO 1600. It's just that I'm averse to shooting high ISO if I don't need to as I'm partial to sharpness and details in my images.
The D800/800E is still way better than the D700 for which I had set the max ISO for Auto ISO at ISO 800. But it is definitely beaten by the Df in high ISO territory by about 2 stops.
Example, take this shot of the same cat shot by the D800E at ISO 5000 though with a different lens...

Which do you think looked better noise-wise? :)

...because of the Df ?

Also because of other reason, e.g the PSD file from D800 raw file size is very huge.
Do you know that I have 4 pieces of 2TB hard disk and all are full? I am looking for another storage now.

seems like ISO 5000 from D800e is the same as DF ISO 12500
Or maybe Im wrong .. :dunno:
From these 2 shots, yes... about the same.
But looking at the EXIF, the Df shot was taken in a much darker environment with shutter speed below the safe hand-holding shutter speed of 1/85s for that lens which does not have VR unlike the 105mm Macro VR for the D800E shot.

I do observe that I could get more keepers ie no blur due to handshaking with the Df when shooting below safe handholding shutter speeds without VR than with the D800E. Maybe it's because the camera body is so light and is more easy to hold steady for those shots.

That's the main reason why I don't keep PSD files. I just keep the RAW with modifications and the converted jpeg files.
You must shoot a lot of photos to fill 4 2TB hard disks.

$3300 for body only. Price is controlled by Nikon, cannot be lower than that number.
That's not really true. They just use it as an excuse for not giving discounts to earn more during this period when the camera is hot. But I suppose it would be harder for the sales reps to give bigger discounts in a big organisation like Cathay Photo if they did not get the OK from senior management to do so. They are such a big dealer for Nikon Singapore that it is not as if Nikon would stop supplying them if they did give discounts more than what they have indicated in their directive to their dealers. Smaller shops may be more willing to give discounts covertly in this situation.

I remember when the Fuji X100 was launched, it was in greater demand than the Df and no dealer except one was willing to sell it even $1 below the RRP of $1,699 citing price control by the sole agent. Nobody believed me when I said that I got mine for $1,400 at the time. Eventually, every dealer also started selling at that price and lower after the initial rush for the X100 is over a month of so later to the chagrin of the early adopters who had bought the camera at the RRP of $1,699. ;)

.....:cheergal: ..... boost up IS0, increasing shutter control, no more 'horse running'
But still its the person behind the camera who make up all the settings.
If setting up still inadequate, many 'horse running' may appears
Adding up with all bad reviews, many enthusiasm give bad impression on DF
