Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

And fishes maybe.

BTW. I've check with Cathay Photo marina.
They hv 1 stock for black
I wanted to grab it, but decided not to. Will wait till next year together with wide angle lens
Fishes very much harder to shoot than cats as they move much faster. ;)
Don't wait ! Grab immediately. Cathay Photo got interest-free installment plans with major credit cards. :)

Don't tempt me leh
If you wait until next year to buy together with the wide angle lens, you might find that the damage to your wallet might be too great to bear as a good wide angle lens is not cheap. Best to split up the purchase ... buy the camera now and the wide angle lens later. Less painful that way. ;)

For the WA, maybe I'll get used lens.
If not nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED can do justice too :)

For ultra wide zoom, I would recommend the 16-35mm f/4 VR rather than the 18-35mm.
For a little more than the 18-35mm, you get a UWA zoom that is some considered to be even sharper than the famous 14-24mm f/2.8 (the 18-35mm is not even in the same ball park) but much smaller and lighter, comes with VR and can mount filters. Nowadays, my 14-24mm stays home and the 16-35mm travels with me on my holidays overseas. :)

Hmm. I just came from Cathay Photo today 6:30pm. All body only sets were taken, whether black or silver.
Just left black body with kits lens only.

I am looking for silver body only..

Called the usual shops mostly say Jan stock coming. Sigh

The 16-35 is sharp?
To my eyes, the centre of the 16-35mm is as sharp as that of the 14-24mm. The corners are softer though at the wide end probably due to greater distortion. The corners of the 14-24mm are not that great anyway to me because of the inherent rectilinear distortion so the 16-35mm is a great replacement for the 14-24mm given it's other advantages.
Though nowadays if I want to go even lighter, I would shoot my ultra wides with a diagonal fisheye and then convert the images back to rectilinear proportions using a proper correction software like Fisheye Hemi. Can't go much lighter than a fisheye lens which serves dual function in this case saving me carrying one more lens. ;)

So how much is Cathay Photo asking for it? Any discount?

Here's one...

1/100s f/4.0 at 85.0mm ISO 6400

Common, 6400? Are you serious? High ISO please! ;)
Look at the EXIF.
Why would I deliberately shoot at ISO 25600 under those kind of lighting conditions and suffer from loss of details and resolution unnecessarily.
Like I said before ISO 6400 is the max ISO I would shoot at and that's only because it's the Df. With the D800E, I don't even want to go above ISO 1600. :what:
Anyway, just for experiment sake, I'll shoot a couple at ISO 12,800 to see how good the D4 sensor of the Df is. ;)

Since I'm still wide awake and so are my models, here's a couple of pics at ISO 12,800.

1/40s f/4.0 at 85.0mm ISO 12800

hmm.. they came out better than what I would have expected at ISO 12,800.
Will shoot some at much higher ISOs some other time.

That's what I'm talking about! ISO 6400 from a full-frame camera doesn't blow my socks away anymore. ;)

They were asking for S$3300 firmed. No discount as they said that price controlled by Nikon so they could not sell any lower than that.
