Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

Happy Chinese New Year Bro !! You have all the lenses that I want to !!
:thumbsup:

Nikon 58.0 mm f/1.4 this I want.

Nikon 85.0 mm f/2.0 Pre Ai there is no Nikon 85mm f/2 pre-Ai, is there a mistake? Pre-Ai 85mm are f/1.8, f/2 are Ai.

The 58mm is just gorgeous ... to bad it's a bit ex. You were right about the 85mm .. it is f/1.8 Pre-Ai. Still love the old one. Will try the Pre-Ai 24mm.

O that's the new 58/1.4 not the super old 5.8cm f 1.4! Wow! I still want.

I don't have so much money to put on the back of my cats but here's a couple of shots of my cats wishing all of you 新年快樂, 萬事如意 :)

With comparison to the oranges, the cat looks pretty big.
Just need 300 peaces of fifty dollar notes to cover the entire back of the cat.
Happy New Year Bro !!

That's because they were small mandarin oranges.
Somehow 貓上有錢 doesn't seem to cut it unlike 馬上有錢 ;)

Testing on Cat too ... and Bokeh with 58mm on Df

Sorry ya, but do you apply additional sharpening whether in camera setting (picture control) or sharpening during post processing ?
(just want to make a fair comparison)

Do you shoot wide open at f/1.4, and the images are straight out from camera ? What are the exposure settings?

Why you ask? Are you afraid that the cheapo 50mm f/1.8G might beat the $2k 58mm f/1.4 in image quality?
The answer is yes, I applied some Unsharpen during raw conversion with Capture NX2.
I'm not really into dreamy softness in my images nowadays. At one time when I was younger and starting out in photography I was very much into this kind of dreamy misty softness though. Maybe it's because of my failing eye-sight with advancing age that I now cherish sharper images more. :(

No worry Bro.
I am a potrait photographer and I am shooting raw and post processing (actually retouching) as well ;)

What a nice review of Nikon Df. Glad to see it side by side with your Leica M6 :D

@ Sir Tomcat .....

i) are there any sharpening involved in all your cat photos?
ii) previously you use D800. Why the change?

@jeff7id

Thanks for the compliment! Unfortunately the M6 is a loan... Still trying to learn how to shoot film properly!

@x0tiq

Thanks :) I used a combination of the 50 1.8 and 85 1.8 (which I surprisingly find better than the 1.4 equivalents), and the 14-24 for that last landscape. The shots of the DF were taken with a XE-2 and 23mm f1.4 - another amazing camera.
