Hahah okayy! I shall be extra cautious tomorrow? But is there any way of confirming that this is not a grey import set? Will update on the price after collection tomorrow.
What would exactly be the best lens for the F1?
I will be sitting in the front row of the pit grandstand, so i guess the zooming distance isn't really going to be an issue? I think i care more about having AWESOME pictures of the F1 Grand Prix race, over the practicality of the 18-200 f/3.5-5.6g lens.

I suppose for checking grey stuff the behavior should be the same as elsewhere.
1) Ask the store guy what happens when the cam has got problems. Will it go to Nikon S'pore or back to his shop. If it goes back to the shop then probably it is grey
2) There should be a warranty card that states Nikon S'pore or something in relevant.
As for shooting F1, I usually go for shutter speed of 1/125 sec to 1/250 under normal daylight and for this sunday, I reckon you really have to push the iso 1600 upwards to get the shutter speed variance as mentioned. Even if you have to shoot at iso 3200 go for it , better than leaving the tracks with blurry shots. Go for higher 1/250, then gradually tone down to 1/125 to get the motion blur when you are confident
Yes, try to set everything to manual as I foresee that the fencing will be your enemy. Continuous focus may be tricky.

Well, I'm gonna just type about the differences you noted between the D90 and D300. The D90 is considered to be an entry-level DSLR, it's no wonder why it's cheaper and lose out in certain aspects of the D300.
For the 'click click click' sound, it would be a reference to the Frames Per Second (FPS) of the camera. For the D300, it's at 8fps, while the D90 is at 4.5fps. That's why theres a lag in the 'click' sound for the D90.
If I'm not wrong, the reviews online point out that the D90's ISO performance is slightly better than the D300's. Do take note that viewing pictures on an LCD camera screen and on your computer screen has differences. Nikon's LCD screens tend to 'overrate' the photos at times IMO, giving the colours greater clarity. Also, the noise on LCD isn't as obvious as that on the computer screen IMO.

Now on to your questions. As suggested by everyone else here, you would probably need a lens of roughly over 200mm zoom. Your best option, if you're running on a tight budget, would probably be a AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. Of course, if you have A LOT of money to spare, maybe the AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED would be a better choice. In the long run, the 70-200mm is a worthy investment. Furthermore, you're at the grandstand, so I think the 200mm should be sufficient.
Next, your question on flash. The internal flash sucks to me. (No offense to anyone ><). Then again, I doubt you would use a flash for the F1.
And lastly, get a monopod. Or a chest support pod. You might not have enough space for a tripod if everyone sets up a tripod.

Er, whoever told you the 18-200 is a fast lens is blatantly lying to you. Typically, a fast lens is considered to be one which has a constant max aperture of f/2.8 or above (smaller number = bigger aperture).
I wished I could knew if f5.6 will allow you to reach shutter speeds of 1/250secs and above without bumping up ISO too much though... good luck!
I hv both the 18-200 VR and the 70-300 VR. the 18-200 is great for general and holiday use when you just want 1 lens to do everything but for sports and long shots, the 70-300 would be much better. also, the 70-300 is a FF lens so in addition to using the sweet spot in the middle, you will be able to use the lens to its fullest when you ever decide to go FF. the 70-200 2.8 has had some negative reviews when used in a FF (apparently there's vignetting issues) so you may want to research further before spending that kind of money on the lens.
for an even longer range, Tamron has announced a stabilised 18-270 but that won't be available for a couple of months yet.

Got my D300!
So the moment of truth.
The set i got was ORIGINAL (not grey set) with proper warranty for both the lens and body. I went with the Nikon 18-200mm 3.6-5.6. The package included 1 extra original battery, 4GB CF Card, Screen Protector, CF Card reader, all thrown in, for the price that ranges between 3,000 and 3,300.
Am really happy with my camera. Only thing is that it has too many freaking functions, and it screwed up some of my shots. Will upload a few of the good ones that i took tonight at the F1 race.
Oh not forgetting, the shop is Alan Photo at Sim Lim Square. He is quite established. Here is his shop's webpage.

Hahah yes i borrowed one from a friend. Quite a tall tri-pod. Was told i couldnt use it on the last day of the finals. Disappointing.
