nikon D90 replacement...

Pushing up the MP could actually mean higher noise? More sensor sites = more heat = noise?

Noise reduction algorithm of D700, means its NR done in post capture, thus JPG look nice, RAW still same?

Technology has improved and I believe that it is possible to produce such a 16MP DX sensor with the same high ISO performance as the D700. The main question here, I think, is whether it makes business sense to release such a camera.

arrrrrrrrgggh! I just bought!

never mind.... be content with what you have...

- 16MP is unnecessary
- 8fps (claimed) is unbelievable.... highly doubt it. Will affect D300s sales.

Don't worry. For the first 5 months, the D90 replacement will be priced very high anyway.

it's cool to hear that nikon releasing something new to supercede the current D90. hmm well for those who just bought a nikon d90, i guess the best is to be contended and enjoy your new dslr. no point wasting time waiting here and there.

so what if the new successor is out? the price will be high. are you gona wait again till the price drops? and when it drops, another model is on the way to hit the shelve, are you gona go through the cycle again?

8fps isnt that unbelievable since even small compact cameras like the Canon 300HS can do 3.7fps for 10mp. Its the size of the buffer thats important I guess, maybe its 8fps for 12mp rather than 16mp.

No, no, don't be content with what you have folks!! Sell, sell, sell those useless obsolete D90s.

I'm in the market for a used D90 and hoping used prices will fall soon.
;p

The continuous AF in videos will be a nice feature to have, for those wanting to use the D90 as a simple videocam.

Let's hope for a firmware upgrade for current D90 users!

compact cameras don't have mirror mechanisms...

I'm not 100% sure, but I think even the D300s doesn't go to 8fps with the battery grip. And that's a semi-pro DSLR already.

now 900+ can get D90 body, still not cheap enough?
you want fresh, want cheap, want big har? :D

Same noise performance as D700? <-- is this overstatement..

I personally DON'T QUITE THINK SO.....hahahaha - you cannot compare even 10 iguanas to ONE dinosaur :D especially in terms of sensor performance (Dx versus Fx) :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Nope, not low enough!!!! Sell sell sell!!! Then I can get one at 450 for my other lenses or pass it to my kiddie who's keen to move on to more complex cameras... :bsmilie: He who keeps eyeing to click on my shutter!

I'm getting hold of a 2nd hand d300 tomorrow so I was at John 3:16 today to buy a CF card ... then Sam was mentioning to me about the upcoming d90 replacement and telling me how i should have waited such that 2nd hand prices would fall, even for the d300... but i tell myself that the waiting will never stop because technology will keep progressing.. if i feel dui that prices drop and Nikon releases a replacement with great technological leaps... then.......

dui lor hahaha.. but learn to be content. the idea is to shoot my best with what I have.

anyway, do read the article on bythom.com, titled "Buy the best you can afford", article dated 20th July... cure for the BBB virus

sometimes no point waiting. just liked handphones. keep coming out new models, and how long are you going to wait?

Handphone got a 2years contract, at least that will tie you down and good phones are generally cheap and affordable when they bundled with contract ma hahha.

But cams does not have anything to cure our itchy hands. I have sold off my D90 last year due to external commitments and stuffs and i really really regretted moving on to smaller platform (m43), thus i realise my true love lies within Nikon. Please let the new D90 come soon!

Hail D90's replacement!

If what they have done in the past is any guide, they announced the D90 at the end of August. Maybe a month or two before they showed up in stores. I bought my D80 when it first came out and a month or two after that the price decreased by like $100 so if you want one but don't need a camera right now might wait until after the first of the year maybe. Nikon has said they were more focusing on better ISO performance and less on more pixels so hopefully that will mean a better low light DX camera. I don't like to go much above ISO 400 on my D80 if I can help it- prefer to use the lowest possible. I don't really care about video but I do understand that that can be important in marketing. We will see. Anything before the official announcement is just rumour and may or may not be correct.

D300s is around 6+ fps. With battery grip loaded with the D3 battery or with AAs, it will shoot at 8 fps. But if loaded with another EN-EL3e, it will still shot at native FPS.

yar lor. those rumors are 100% fake lar. How can the D90s be so much better than the D300s???

Wonder what will be the DXX number. D100 already taken up..

Maybe a D90a? ho ho ho . Followed by D90b later.

Nikon will have to be careful with the D90 replacement. It will probably incorporate some new technology (new sensor etc), without alienating the D300s crowd.

What's wrong with owning a D90 now? :dunno::dunno:
