nightpiper said:of cos won't find ALL hit this problem lah. that wud relate to 100% failure right? its really how u want to percieve this pc of news. as far as i know, electronics gadgets have a much smaller failure ratio rate for the first 12mths. things like mobile phones, PDAs, DVD players/recorders, LCD monitors, plasma TVs, etc. i personally think that the failure rate is very serious for an item like D70. imagine nikon sells 100,000 D70 & has 18,000 - 20,000 fail in less than 12 mths.
anyone from electronics manufacturing like to comment on 18%-20% failure rate? :dunno: me not from manufacturing sector but attached to one in my school days.
Nikon did do it before to a few of their consumer series like the CP2500 (IIRC) due to a firmware issue that caused battery to die fast.nightpiper said:i think nikon won't do any mass recall unless there's 'life threatening issues' on the camera like, eg, battery explosion, electric shock on hand grip, etc. its definitely easier for customers to bring their faulty set for repair than to annouce a mass recall worldwide. u reckon? :dunno:
again i made this comment based on other situations. toyota & honda did a mass recall last time becos of life threatening issues like brakes & seat belts flaws.

Don't think it is due to heat or humidity, mine was put in dry cabinet in air-con room most of the time, only taken out averagely once or twice a month, but still failed.mpenza said:no one knows the answer? was thinking it might be the heat and humidity here that caused the problem ;p

USM said:Everytime when I visit Nikon Service Centre, I will see at least 2 persons walking in with a failed D70 to service.
The price of D70 has fallen, and so as the QC. :dunno:
