Nikon D60 Vs Canon 1000D

hi guys,

Im in need of ur opinions of the Nikon D60 Vs the Canon 1000D.

Im on a tight budget and ive narrowed my considerations down to these 2 models.

I can get a 2nd hand D60 with the standard kit and 9 months warranty for $650

and

the Canon 1000D for abt $950 (first hand).

wat do u guys recommend ??

PS: Im leaning towards the D60 cos of the low price and also that I can use the rest of my spare cash to invest in lenses or somethin.

the consideration: Cannon 1000D has live view and its much newer. Also heard that alot of lenses cannot be used on the D60.

was thinking about the same thing a few weeks ago, in the end went for D60 cuz of the price difference and it feels more sturdy.. but if you want to use prime lens, most nikon prime lens cannot auto focus on D60.. zoom lens are less of an issue i think..

For Nikon body of earlier model than D80, only AF-S lens with focusing motor built in will auto focus for you. Other lens will serve as manual focusing only.

I don't recommend MF for normal usage unless u r doing macro or other photography. Your viewfinder is too small to allow you to get the right focus easily.

erm, the d60 isnt an earlier model of the d80. in fact, it was released after the d80. more accurately, it resembles closer to the d40/d40x series, which explains its lens compatibility.

Do the D70, D70s and D50 qualify too? What about the D100 and D2H, to name a few more? Those are all released earlier than the D80.

To be accurate, the following camera models only will have autofocus if you use AF-S (or AF-I) lenses on them: D40, D40x and D60.
